Second Sock In ProgresssteemCreated with Sketch.

I finally got a chance to work on my second sock. Yay!! It’s not that bad at all. I had been procrastinating because I thought that it would feel more like work than a relaxing hobby. It didn’t. I am familiar with the pattern and the second time around is much easier.

I changed the size of my needle to a smaller size 4.5 mm because the first sock was large. I hope that this needle is not too small though, but I am not far enough along to tell yet. I am working on the foot portion that involves just knitting in the round.

I have already finished the increases for the toe.

I am sitting in the eye doctor’s office waiting for a test. My other doctor’s appointment went well and I will not have to take any medication for my elevated glucose levels.

My doctor wants me to eat balanced healthy meals and exercise. I will be monitored and I will also monitor myself.

This was great news for me to hear. Have a wonderful day.

Good to see you have started the second sock, very brave 😊
Which pattern are you using? Interesting to start with the toe, I haven't tried that way.
Good result from your visit to the doctor, pleased you can manage your condition with monitoring.

I posted a month ago about my progress knitting the sock. (See link above). I am using the pattern from the nervous knitter. I cast on 10 stitches using Judy’s magic loop method, and increased to 20 on each needle for a total of 40 stitches. Those 40 are knit in the round until you get to the heel. Then the German short row method is used. I’ll post more details when I post next Monday. I am also grateful that I can monitor without taking medication.

Ah, yes, I have gone back to look, some interesting tips :)

Ohhh this is wonderful, that you do not have to take medication. My father and his brother got around 50 diabetes type two although they both were very slim... Neither of them took medication till today, they could manage with eating consciously and walking (as an exercise) I don't know if you have a similar problem, if yes than I wanted to reassure you, that it could be managed well.
And I hope your eyes are also ok <3
Second sock looks great and you are much braver than me :-D

My eyes are fine. I wear glasses and contact lenses so I get extensive exams to get my prescription right. I am allowed to try different brands of contact lenses because some are uncomfortable. I wear both the glasses and the contact lenses so that I can give my eyes a break from the plastic. I had to get a new prescription this time and the doctor has been tweaking my prescription.
As it relates to the diabetes, I just have to eat a sensible balanced diet and cut back on sugars and carbohydrates. I had recently gone overboard with sweet treats, sweet juices, candy, and other things. My mother has diabetes and there is some genetic predisposition to family members getting it. I am knowledgeable about good nutrition so I was advised to go back to what I have always done that works. I also need to increase my level of activity through exercising more. I believe that in 3 months all of my values will be back to normal.

I remember I instantly liked the color when you post the first socks. And using a bit fattier yarn for socks was eye opening for me. I look forward to seeing the finished socks!

Thank you. I will finish it soon. 😊

Good to hear that your appointment with your doctor was successful . I will be following with keen interest to see how your finishing of this knit sock will look like @jluvs2fly
