Nepal: Conquer to Everest for the first time

A series of attempts were made to conquer over Everest, the highest peak in the World since 1922 but there were only failures till 1953. Many explorer and climbers risked there life to conquer the Everest but without success. Then finally, the moment arrived as Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay from Nepal reached the summit of the Everest and entered into the record book. The date that went into history was May 29, 1953.

There are 14 mountains above 8000 meter and the highest peak in the world was the second of these 14 mountains to be climbed successfully. Hillary and Norgay started along with George Lowe, Alfred Gregory and Ang Nima started their ascent on 28 May 1953. They were carrying enough supplies of around 50 pounds each because most of the previous attempt failed due to lack of supplies.

On that afternoon, they reached the height of 8500m. Hillary and Norgay were left behind by their team to stay at the tent at height of 8500m and the rest of the team descended. Hillary and Norgay spent the night at the height of 8500m. They established a tent on a snow ledge at about 8500m. Gregory and Ang Nima then descended to the South Col, leaving Hillary and Tenzing to spend the night in the tent.

On the early morning of May 29, they starting climbing up the south summit and it was a very dangerous climb because of soft snow in this region. Despite facing difficulties, they didn't give up and continued. At 11:30 AM, they reached the summit and made a history which will go to the history book as the first people to reach the top of the world.
