Israelis Soon to Be Able to Purchase Land in The West Bank Against International Law
DAMASCUS, SYRIA (2:40 A.M)- Yesterday, a bill was proposed by a member of the Israeli Knesset, seeking to allow Jewish Israeli citizens to purchase land in the illegally occupied West Bank.
Bezalel Smotrich, a member of the Israeli Knesset, has proposed a bill which seeks to allow Jewish Israelis the right to buy land in the illegally occupied West Bank. Smotrich's bill was set to be considered by 'The Israeli Ministerial Committee for Legislation' this Sunday.
The bill, if drafted into legislation, will amend the 1953 agreement that permits Jordanian and Palestinian citizens the ability to purchase property inside of the occupied West Bank. Despite the bill, disallowing Israeli Jews to buy land in the occupied territories, Israeli's began to purchase property in the 1970's through registered organizations in the West Bank.
As of 1995, after the Oslo Accords, the West Bank was divided into three separate area's; Area A, B and C.
Area C represents roughly 60% of the West Bank's territory. Following the Oslo Agreements Israel were to maintain a full military occupation of this area for 5 years, before handing it over to the Palestinian Authority (PA). Area C is still today under a full Israeli Military occupation and has been so heavily saturated with Israeli Settlers, that Illegal Israeli Settlers now outnumber Palestinians in the area.
The proposed bill has been condemned by Palestinians as an attempted to further annex land in the West Bank.
The Israeli Regime does not accept the international recognized consensus, which states that the West Bank is occupied territory, and ignores the agreements that they have signed acknowledging this fact. Israel maintains that the West Bank, is in theirs, Israel refers to the territory by the biblical name "Judea and Sumaria".
