Israeli warplanes circle Syrian-Lebanese border, Damascus raises alert level
BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:30 P.M.) - The Israeli Air Force has resumed their overflights into Lebanese airspace this week, as their warplanes were spotted flying along Lebanon's eastern border with Syria.
According to a military report, both Israeli reconnaissance drones and fighter jets were spotted along the Lebanese-Syrian border, with most of their flights taking place over the Sheba'a Farms, Beqa'a Valley, Mount Hermon (Jabal Al-Sheikh), and occupied Golan Heights.
In response to these Israeli overflights, the Syrian Air Defense has been put on high alert near their western border with Lebanon and the occupied Golan Heights region.
A Syrian military source in Damascus told Al-Masdar News last week that the Israeli Air Force has been heavily monitoring the area around the Qalamoun Mountains and Al-Qusayr; they both have a large Hezbollah presence.
