Jihadist rebels launch powerful attack near strategic airport in east Idlib
BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:45 A.M.) - The jihadist rebels launched a new attack in eastern Idlib this weekend after suffering heavy personnel losses at the hands of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA).
Led by their Jaysh Abu Bakr Al-Sadiq faction, Hay'at Tahrir Al-Sham launched a fresh attack on the Syrian Arab Army's positions near the strategic Abu Dhuhour Military Airport in eastern Idlib.
According to a military source in Hama, the jihadist rebels attempted to inflict heavy damage on the Syrian Army's defenses in a bid to force them away from the front-lines in the Abu Dhuhour area.
However, despite their best efforts, the jihadist rebels failed to do much damage to the Syrian Arab Army's defenses.
The source said that the Syrian Arab Army did suffer at least five casualties as a result of the jihadist attack near the Abu Dhuhour Airport.
In response to the jihadist attack, the Syrian Arab Army struck Hay'at Tahrir Al-Sham's positions in the northern countryside of the Hama Governorate.
Intense clashes are now ongoing in northern Hama and southern Hama as both parties attempt to gain the upper-hand in northwest Syria.
