In just one week the plebs of the UK have had to swallow reports of a serial rapist, with over 30 victims, and a prolific paedophile DJ, are free to walk the streets.

It was only yesterday that I was reading about Stephen Mitchell, an ex-police officer from Newcastle. Newcastle officer, Mitchell, originally from Glasgow, Scotland, had raped and sexually abused heroin addicts, shoplifters and a disabled teenager, by offering them help while in custody, then demanding sexual favours afterwards. At the time of his sentencing it was recommended that Stephen Mitchel never be released from prison.

Trial Judge, Mr Justice Wilkie, had to say to Stephen Mitchell, as he sentenced him to serve 2 life sentences;

"Thereafter, you will only be released, if at all, if the parole board has concluded it is safe and in the public interest for you to be released on public licence. That may not be for many years, if for ever."

But this was in 2011 and it seems that this vicious, remorseless, rapist has miraculously changed his ways...

On Stephens very 1st parole hearing, the ex-police officer has managed to defy his earlier recommendations and secure his own release, after convincing a parole board hearing that he was no longer a danger to the public. It is not possible to find out how this decision was made, or on what basis.

Unfortunately, this case was heard before recent legislation changes and this, conveniently, allows the parole board to refuse the public any access to these crucial details.

Even Mr Mitchell's daughter has felt the need to speak out, over the decision to release her father from jail.

In a recent interview with ITV, she had this to say;

Mitchell’s 22-year-old daughter, Abbey, said the decision for early release is an "insult to victims." She added: “I think he should be back inside, I think he should be somewhere where he can't hurt people because outside in the public he will hurt somebody. “I think he does pose a risk to anybody in the public.”

Describing her father as “very, very dangerous” and “not human”, she added: "I grew up with him, I've been around him enough to know that he can manipulate people, he can hurt people and he has hurt people."

This is a case that mirrors the release of, London taxi driver, John Worboy, who was sentenced in 2009, but later released from prison, after a "highly unusual" parole board hearing.

John Worboy (now known as John Radford) was jailed for raping and sexually abusing 20 female victims. His abuse spanned over 6-years, from 2002 - 2008, and by the time he was finally caught, estimates reached to over 100 victims.

In a parole board hearing, said to have been influenced by 3 "independent psychologists", John, who 3 months previous, had been recommended to remain in a maximum security prison, was somehow granted; not just the usual route through a minimum security prison; he was granted complete freedom and set free to roam around in the shadows, once more.

The decision to release, serial rapist, John Worboy has since been overturned by the high-court, thanks, only, to the effort of the victims and the community supporting them. Left to the government, the courts and/or the Police, this would have been swept under the carpet and nobody would have known that John Worboy, a most-dangerous rapist, had been released from prison. Amazingly, since John Worboy has been returned to his rightful place, in a catagory A prison, he is still being allowed to waste public time, and money, in a 2nd appeal to overturn the high-court ruling.

And as if that all wasn't enough, I now have to tell you that yet-another paedophile has been allowed to remain living a life of luxury and privilege, while the victims remain silenced by the judiciary.

In today's metro newspaper, there is a very small passage, no more than 65 words long; possibly one for each victim; detailing how a famous DJ, on air from 1970 - 1988, has been allowed to walk free after his trial has collapsed.

DJ Jonathan King had been accused of at least 23 sexual assaults on minors aged between 14 and 16-years of age.

Surrey police made this weak-ass statement:

"We did not meet the required standards to ensure a fair trial."
