The chaos in my country Venezuela

HOW CHAOS BEGAN IN VENEZUELA?

The oil-rich nation was one of the most prosperous in Latin America, but has been mired in political and economic turmoil as oil prices plummet, farms were nationalized, factories paralyzed their production and corruption spreads out of control.

Venezuelans frustrated by food shortages, triple-digit inflation and a homicide rate that ranks among the highest in the world took to the streets in early April after a decision by the Supreme Court of Justice stripped last competitions to the National Assembly, now controlled by the opposition.

The decision was reversed amid a barrage of local and international criticism, but triggered a wave of protests that has left at least 93 dead, thousands of injured and hundreds of detainees.

WHAT DOES THE OPPOSITION WANT?

The protesters demand the advance of elections, including the presidential one, and they want Maduro to lift his ban on opening a humanitarian channel so that the necessary food and medical supplies can reach Venezuelans. They also ask that each and every political prisoner be released.

The socialist leader has refused to accept foreign aid by refusing to let Venezuela face a crisis, while arguing that allowing foreign humanitarian assistance could put the nation at risk of foreign military intervention.

THE MILITARY COULD INTERVENE?

The Venezuelan military has historically intervened to put an end to political disputes and the opposition has urged them to safeguard the current constitution and prevent them from taking the process of drafting a new charter.

At the end of June, a pilot of the judicial police and emerging film actor, who stole a helicopter and attacked the seat of the Supreme Court, called for a rebellion against the Maduro government.

He was located and killed even after offering to surrender

Hello @carlosjaviertl,

I found your article through @primeraplana.

while arguing that allowing foreign humanitarian assistance could put the nation at risk of foreign military intervention.

Could you please tell me a bit more about this?
The risk of having Foreign military intervention seems a valid point. Yet there have to be options the government could allow.

I would like to know the full reasoning behind not allowing foreign humanitarian assistance. Red Cross for instance. Non military assistance.

Thanks for this article.

it baffles the mind how this does virtually not get any attention in the global media , it's all about the syrians, right ... your dictator might be right about one thing though : if you let the jackals in they will come to stay , if there's any chance to do it on your own i'd take it

there is no foreign aid without a price tag

but i also understand thats the least concern of someone who is hungry

strength bro, and hopefully

peace :)

don't die for nothing since you won't be there to fight the next day, futile protest serves nothing, patience might endure until the day it does
if its war
you take what you need for the ones you care about

(that kinda talk got me banned on twitter a lot, sorry, i dont mean to incite but i dont think i have to)

ain't no shame in surviving
