Germany: Facebook To Stop Tracking Users!steemCreated with Sketch.

The German antitrust office ruled that Facebook has to stop combine personal data from multiple sources.

The Commission announced that Facebook is ordered to not use data that it is collected from third-party services and websites on Facebook’s user profiles. This is a very common practice that allows them to present more attractive products from advertisers to FB users.

At this moment Facebook collect data from a wide-range of services like Instagram, WhatsApp and others.

“In future, Facebook will no longer be allowed to force its users to agree to the practically unrestricted collection and assigning of non-Facebook data to their Facebook user accounts,” said Andreas Mundt, president of the Bundeskartellamt (German Federal Cartel Office).

Commission President Andreas Munt said that this decision means Facebook will no longer be allowed to force users to agree to virtually unlimited collection and attachment of unrelated Facebook information to their orders on that social network.

Facebook expressed disagreement with this decision and announced the appeal.

Maybe this is a great moment for some blockchain social network projects to come in. Someone mention Steemit? :)
