Western Media Remains Silent As Israel Is Massacring Protesters In Gaza

in #news6 years ago

More than 2238 wounded and dozens of Palestinians have been killed today in Gaza, as 40,000 Palestinians continue their right to return protest on the boarder of Israel and the Gaza strip. For the last few weeks Protesters have been gathered along different points of Gaza's border. Areas east of Khan Younis, Rafah and al-Breij, opposite of the highly-fortified fence between Israel and Gaza.

The U.S. and Israel are both responsible for the "massacre" taking place against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, Turkish government spokesman Bekir Bozdag said.

Over 2238 have been wounded, with over 770 from 'live gunfire'. 320 wounded from tear gas inhalation, 64 from shrapnel and 83 from blunt force trauma. These are unarmed protesters. If another country shot and killed dozens of protesters in the way that Israel just did, the U.S. would be promising "freedom and democracy," and planning to invade.

This comes in addition to the dozens of Palestinians who have been killed and the thousands who have been wounded by Israeli sniper fire in recent weeks. While Israel has falsely claimed that every man or teenage boy who participated in the protests was a “militant” for Hamas, and deserved to die, there was one civilian death that was particularly notable.

Yaser Murtaja, a Palestinian photojournalist, was wearing a jacket that clearly said “PRESS” when he was shot in the chest and killed by an Israeli sniper on Friday. As The Intercept noted, “Either the Israeli sniper could not clearly see who was in the rifle scope—in which case the claim that the use of live fire is precise is shown to be untrue—or the soldier intentionally fired at a journalist, which is a war crime.”

While Israel has justified the killings by claiming that their soldiers opened fire because the suspects “attempted to infiltrate” the Israel-Gaza border, a disturbing video was leaked last month that showed multiple Israeli men celebrating after a sniper targeted and shot a non-threatening man who was standing in a field on the other side of their border fence.

Monday, Bloody Monday. The massacre of at least 49 Palestinian men, women, ad children -- and wounding of 1,700 (!!) others -- by Israeli snipers must provoke the global outrage that finally forces the brutal and stone-hearted Netanyahu regime to the negotiating table. But don't hold your breath. The violent, authoritarian Israeli government enjoys the strong support of the Trump criminal enterprise -- in fact much of the protest furor today was sparked by the ceremonial opening of the US Embassy in Jerusalem, presided over by the ghastly power couple, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner. Boy Jared, of course, was given the crucial Middle East portfolio by his globally ignorant father-in-law, who promised that Kushner would soon solve the Israel-Palestine crisis. And how's that working out for him?

Today my heart breaks for Palestine and I am angry at the US government for funding ethnic cleansing, genocide and and land theft just as we did to the Native American's.
