Gold Goats ‘n Guns Live – Russia Hits Nothing But Net at the World Cup and Why Merkel’s Days are Numbered
This World Cup in Russia has been nothing short of a massive success so far for the host country. I’ve watched a number of matches and being a former sports blogger watching Russia’s win over Spain recalled those days of running my Sabre Rattling blog (now lost to the cruelty of time) and my childhood where I spent so much of my time watching professional sports of one form or another.
I don’t claim to be a soccer/football expert but it was clear to me that Spain cracked under the pressure while the Russians simply dug in and gutted out a win. Once it got down to penalties the difference between the two goalkeepers’ body language was all you needed to know.
I think there’s a metaphor there for geopolitics but, for today, the big winner on the world stage today is Russia, its leadership who did a brilliant job putting on the tournament and the fans from around the world who braved the psychological Iron Curtain and found something wonderful on the other side.
Good for them.
In stark contrast is the situation unfolding in the EU, especially Germany, and the populist uprising in Mexico. The guard is changing and this is a fascinating time to be alive.

The world cup has been the perfect way for Russia to show the World that it's not the monster everybody thinks. Big Kudos to them.
As for the EU, as long as concerns addressed by populists are merely disregarded and people are simply labelled with derogatory terms, then the populist wave will continue to rise
Exactly, and the politicians have no other choice but to double down on discrediting populism until they are strung up by their tonenails and fed to dogs.... metaphorically speaking, of course.

Not being too much into soccer but I have been following merkel's predicament. I'm looking for more info on the deal between her and Horst Seehofer. He was so adamant about he position regarding the immigrants going into the meeting and now their in agreement. There must be a hidden story.
There is. Seehofer is now part of the group that wants Merkel gone from power in Europe. He sees what the forces behind 'European Inegration' actually want and he's had enough. Finally now, he has enough allies in Austria, Italy, Hungary, etc. to strike back,
Trump is the catalyst here. He's putting tremendous pressure on the Davos Crowd's push for global dominance through transnational 'agreements' like the TTIP, TTP, the Paris Climate Accord etc. This plan is now in serious danger of being routed.
The NATO Summit and Trump's meeting with Putin could alter the trajectory of the entire West while simultaneously kicking off a European sovereign debt crisis. Fun times.!
Sorry, I'm a bit confused. Are you referring to the CSU or some other group. I do understand that Belgium's grip is failing as the refugee crisis grows. More people are waking up to the fact that the migrants are not assimilating and have no desire to, they just want to convert their host country to their way of life.
I agree with Trump's opinion that the TTIP, TTP, Kyoto and the Paris Accord (not to forget NAFTA) were biased against the US and should be scrapped or at the very least reworked.
I am placing too much hope in the successful outcome of the tariff war. The best outcome I hope for is that it will lead the US to see the benefit of having a manufacturing base. But the financial picture in mathematical terms has no resolve as the amount of US debt is too great to be paid back. This hopefully will lead to the demise of the federal reserve, but this appears unlikely.
Fun Times indeed.
