Leonardo DiCaprio's Foundation Auctioned Off 'Dates' With Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey For Charity
It was reported this week that Leonardo DiCaprio's nonprofit organization auctioned off several "dates" with both Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey during an annual event in southern France called the St. Tropez gala. Until the story went public this week, DiCaprio's website still gave detailed descriptions of these auctions, according to Page Six.
For both the 2015 and 2016 event, the 'Courtesy of Harvey Weinstein' prize included a date to the oscars with the infamous producer, a private day with him on a movie set and a month long internship.
"For the lady attending the parties, be dressed in a one-of-a-kind couture Marchesa dress - and take it home afterwards," read the auction catalog from 2016.
In 2016, a date with Kevin Spacey was also auctioned off, which involved Spacey coming to the person's home to put on a "private theater performance."
The mentions of Weinstein and Spacey have since been removed from the website, but a representative of DiCaprio's organization made a statement to the New York Post saying that the winners of the auction never actually paid, so they never spent any time alone with the predators.
"LDF never received payment for any auction lots donated by Mr Weinstein or Mr Spacey, which were included in our 2015 and 2016 catalogues," the spokesperson said.
DiCaprio has had an ongoing professional with Weinstein since early in his career, but he condemned the disgraced producer after the the truth of his crimes were made public.
"There is no excuse for sexual harassment or sexual assault — no matter who you are and no matter what profession, I applaud the strength and courage of the women who came forward and made their voices heard," DiCaprio said in a statement after the Weinstein scandal hit the news.
However, it was apparently common knowledge in Hollywood that these men were predators, just do a google search for "Harvey Weinstein everyone knew" or "Kevin Spacey everyone knew" and you will see that this was an open secret in the industry. There was even an episode of Family Guy where a baby escapes from Kevin Spacey's basement.
To auction off dates with known predators is at the very least irresponsible, and at the very worst it is assisting those predators.THIS WAS A STEEMIT EXCLUSIVE!!

I was first suspicious over DiCaprio's lead roll in The Titanic. Then I heard him speaking about Global Warming (what a joke, completely irrational). I'm not surprised to hear about his connections to the sexual predator crew. Bet he has a story to tell.

Yeah I always had a strange feeling about him too although I wanted to believe that all of the charity stuff was legit.. but it looks like he's another one hiding his crimes behind philanthropy... The real philanthropists in this world are hardly ever recognized

Leo recently had to turn over an oscar once won by Marlon Brando over the largest kleptocracy case the US Department of Justice has ever investigated.
Sadly many foundations I have seen around the world are really set up as tax scams and/or criminal enterprises.

Well it is likely that DiCaprio has strong ties with them, taking into account that he joined the Hollywood industry at an early age, almost everyone who joins that industry being so young, inevitably end up associated with this type of problems. For years it has been said that celebrities can not deal with fame and that's why those little children who appear in films end up being drug addicts or sexual predators, but in reality, that has nothing to do with fame, it has to do with with the abuses to which they are subjected in that industry.
That sums it up pretty accurately.

I had the same thoughts upon seeing this news bit today. Weird how both Weinstein and Spacey were part of the same charity auction. Their club getting smaller maybe? DiCaprio does these fundraisers there every year.
yeah it is interesting that they are now known as some of the most notorious and both of them were auctioned as dates.
