Head of Tesla Ilon Mask said: in August, the next major update of the software for electric vehicles will be launched. Software Version 9.0 will include a "full list of self-management functions" for cars with Autopilot 2.0.
Version 8.0 was released in 2016. there was a significant software update that brought an updated user interface, new features and several improvements for Autopilot's self-management function.
The upcoming Version 9.0 update will probably be equally important. As Ilon Mask noted in the Twitter social network, this version of the software will even include the first "full list of self-management functions". True, he did not specify details about this. And this does not mean that now electric vehicles Tesla will be able to move completely independently without the participation of a person. Most likely, the company will begin to offer functions within the set of Full Self-Driving Capability, available for cars with Autopilot 2.0.
For cars with Autopilot 2.0, the Enhanced Autopilot package is priced at $ 5,000 and an additional package of Full Self-Driving Capability worth $ 3,000. And although this package is available for purchase, Tesla herself notifies that the Self-Driving functionality depends on extensive software confirmations and regulatory permits that can vary widely depending on jurisdiction.
