Facebook Gets Into The Election Business

in #news6 years ago

There was something about the whole Congressional "inquiry" into social media that just didn't seem right... it seemed more like "nod- nod, wink-wink" than a serious investigation. This was especially true of the aftermath when censorship became more rather than less prevalent. Platforms like YouTube and Facebook are taking conservative sites down wholesale now not to mention censoring the news that they allow. When Mark Zuckerberg testified, he got spoon fed softball questions and then absolutely nothing... silence- no more hearings, no legislation, nothing at all but increased censorship. One explanation is that most of Congress is in the pocket of the media (Silicon Valley included). It was reported that Facebook/Zuckerberg donated to 85% of those who were questioning him. But there's a concomitant explanation as well...

An alternative explanation that goes right along with Google, YouTube, Twitter and of course Facebook censoring conservative sites. By partnering with think tanks attached to the Trilateral Commission to "promote real-time insights and updates on emerging threats and disinformation campaigns around the world," Facebook hopes to affect the outcome of elections across the globe... In a positive way of course. In other words, if you or any other content creator disagrees with the prevailing narrative, they will be deemed "fake news" and their content will be censored.

Also, all of the major social media platforms (not to mention government security agencies such as NSA, CIA, etc.) share an algorithm that gives one another access to all data from all users. That way they will be able to ensure a consistent homogeneous message can be disseminated worldwide. Facebook is partnering with the Atlantic Council, "whose members include arch-globalists like Henry Kissinger and Dina Powell, to 'protect free and fair elections around the world.'" It will be this globalist think tank that will decide what is fake news and disinformation and it will then be "broadcast" on facebook. Moreover, because of the homogeneity of political shared by the owners across social media, this will become the social media version of the MSM narrative.

Facebook will also use the Atlantic Council’s Digital Research Unit Monitoring Missions during elections and other highly sensitive moments. This will allow us to focus on a particular geographic area — monitoring for misinformation and foreign interference and also working to help educate citizens as well as civil society.

"The thought that a globalist think tank might be biased against certain politicians around the world, and that this might affect their opinion of what counts as “misinformation,” does not seem to have occurred to Facebook." Or perhaps it has... This is just a thinly veiled attempt to make up for the MSM's inability to control the information flow in the 2016 election. Donald Trump owes his victory to the internet and social media in particular. Because of the internet, the MSM lost control of the narrative and the powers that be will do anything to see that it doesn't happen again. By interfering in elections around the world, they can test this new "election control" mechanism in time for the 2020 election.

This is just the first attempt to regain the narrative. If they are successful with the first few attempts we can look for the censorship to increase exponentially. Like I said at the beginning, there was something that just didn't feel right about those hearings- now I think we know what it was.

Rich, maybe the era of Facebook is coming to end and we have to say RIP to him

That would suit me just fine... I deleted my account some time ago!

It should be obvious to anyone with eyes to see that the elected officials serve everyone but the people. I even have my doubts on Trump. he has gotten rid of most of those who helped him get elected, surrounding himself with the problem. I have read he is even using Kissinger as an adviser.

The road still looks uphill from my view.

One theory is the old "keep your friends close and your enemies closer" tactic. He gets what he needs, gets them to expose themselves then fores them... In truth, who knows???

I would not be surprised to learn that the social media outlets are 'paid off' to promote a liberal socialist agenda and censor or discourage a more conservative view. It sadly makes sense that they would be politically involved and active. They are not being forced to take a neutral stand. Thanks @rjchq11

They are and their formation was financed by the security agencies.

I trust facebook less than I do CNN.
consequently I ignore both.

Wise man! So do I, I haven't watched TV in years and I deleted my Fakebook account sometime back.

Dear God save us all from the fbook people and their political ambitions! Now they want to be on the block chain too. I must say Zuckerberg got off pretty easy with the questions. 🐓🐓

It was just part of the plan... The Atlantic Council are really bad news- check this out to see who they're aligned with!

I wasn't surprised how the hearings went. I didn't know he sponsored them, but I suspected, finally found out.

The radical left are making a desperate, dangerous push to seize the narrative. I've often complained about how we don't fight back well enough.

I'm not scared though, even if they succeed, we'll just find another way to get the truth to people
