Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani launched new services, and offered insights into Jio’s current state of affairs at the Annual General Meeting in Mumbai. While he confirmed that Reliance Jio now has 215 million broadband subscribers, Ambani also introduced JioGigaFiber, a new broadband service and launched JioPhone 2, the successor to the original Jio feature phone.
While Jio subscribers now use as much as 240 crore GB data per month, Ambani said that the JioPhone has been purchased by over 25 million people. With the aspiration to reach 100 million people, the company has launched the JioPhone 2, with a QWERTY keypad, that starts at an introductory price of Rs 2,999. In addition, Ambani has announced the Monsoon offer, through which users can exchange their feature phones for the JioPhone at Rs 501.
