Drones Are Planting Trees in Myanmar
Tech company BioCarbon Engineering is using drones to plant trees by firing germinated seed pods into the ground.
The flying robots can plant trees much faster than doing it by hand, making the method more efficient and cheaper than traditional methods.
In September, the drones began planting mangrove saplings in Myanmar through a partnership with Worldview International Foundation.
We now have a case confirmed of what species we can plant and in what conditions. We are now ready to scale up our planting and replicate this success. ~ Irina Fedorenko, BioCarbon Engineering co-founder
Worldview has planted over 6 million trees in Myanmar over the last seven years. Now with the help of the drones, they hope to plant another 4 million by the end of the year.
