Not all technology increases freedom. Crypto does, but AI (at least the way it’s deployed now) does the opposite. That’s why China loves AI and hates Crypto. Elon Musk and others have talked about this.

Technologies aren't endpoints. They are transitions. Consider any technology that has been developed and a pattern is revealed. Historically, wealth necessary to either fund research or purchase IP has been concentrated in institutions. This has enabled institutions to be availed of the bleeding edge, while individuals have only later gained access.

However, individuals inevitably gain access in time. The pace of innovation isn't linear either, and the ramifications of concatenations are more and more not confined to institutions, but come from individual efforts.

AI will not remain a tool of institutions for long, if it does at all. Elon Musk, as you point out, is seeking to make sure AI is available to individuals from the outset, and it is difficult to predict how greatly this will impact the balance of power (and thus individual freedom) between individuals and institutions.

Thanks!

Ie LENR!

Its all about energy, all the tech doesn't work without energy, so freedom in that sense is crucially wedded to power production and harvesting, not what it powers since the principle stands that eventually if I have infinite power even the jankiest of tech will outperform the most power efficient tech but with limited power.

Energy is indeed critical to tech, ranging from human manual power to personal nuclear. Solar, geothermal, various gasification methods, and more are pretty much decentralized. There are a lot of options for producing electricity, and not all power needs to be electric.

Thanks!

When you say nuclear personal, what are you referring to?

Privately owned nuclear power plants. You'd have to be pretty damn wealthy to own one personally today.

Have you looked into LENR?

LENR IIRC is the new euphemism for Cold Fusion that was blasted all over the news in the '90s. I have no actual grasp of more than the basics for laymen of the science. I reckon there's likely something there, though, as the original reports included a bit of information about how bubbles collapsing create extremely large forces in very small points, which does enable nuclear fusion in theory.

It's interesting, to say the least.

Search for the Glowstick open source experiments, I don't have a grasp on it but it seems that they've replicated different experiments.

You seem resolute in your stance that the adoption of new technologies will is the best path to liberation. I am neither certain nor uncertain in that regard. Blockchain for instance has helped pave the way into many possibilites so who knows? You may just be right

I beat this drum that the song may be heard, and if the tune is catchy enough others will join in, creating a symphony to elevate us all.

I sure hope I'm right!

Zero g/anti gravity invalidates wars and almost any movie premise :)

I totally agree that tech. could contribute to the freedom of humanity. If we do not have a change in consciousness no lasting results can be achieved.

If we all were magically granted freedom today, we would shortly end up back to where we started - or more likely, worse off. It's the same as a poor person winning the lottery.

Most of the people on the Earth wouldn't know what to do with freedom, many are totally afraid of the responsibility associated with it and don't even want to be free.

We have all been indoctrinated from birth to varying degrees. As technology advances, we gain the ability to mitigate, and ultimately preclude the misinformation and social control imposed on us. There is a learning curve, but that curve is shorter when we are misinformed less.

Not everyone wants to be free. The fact is that we are anyway, and are free to choose masters as well as liberty.

I get what you're saying, I was more or less clarifying that the desire and ability to be free comes from within - not from an external source or tool.

BTW, I referenced your post in my last post. Keep up the Great Work!
