JSECoin ICO is Alive and Running
After a year preparation, development and improvement of the their business model JSECoin launched their ICO yesterday.
As per official announcement:
We will be making tokens available for purchase via an Ethereum ERC20 smart contract. As soon as the cap is reached or a 3 month maximum time limit we will close the ICO and apply to exchanges. Once listed on exchanges the JSECoin token value will be determined by open market conditions.
For those of you who don't know what JSECoin is, it's a javascript based blockchain and token which provide webmasters a way to monetize their website without running advertisement. Instead the excess CPU power of visitors is used, while they surf the website and use the content.
Unlike GPU or ASIC mining which resulted in many centralized energy intrusive mining farms(defying the purpose of decentralization), CPU mining uses surplus CPU resources which would be otherwise wasted. Also the browser mining has a clear advantage over centralized GPU/ASIC mining in terms of energy consumption.
One important thing to remember is that JSECoin is a 100% opt-in only platform, which means no sort of mining is carried out without end user's express consent.
JSECoin Token Mining
There are two types of mining options.
1. Publisher Mode
In this mode, the website owner can load a javascript code(provided by JSECoin) into their website and let the users visiting the website mine JSECoin token for him (with their consent, of course). It's a great alternative of running advertisements, which spoil the user experience. Instead the JSECoin javascript running in the background claims to consume a small amount of CPU's power, which in most instances can be lesser than resources required to run a video advertisement.
2. Personal Mode
With this option a user can log on to the JSEcoin platform, go to the mining page and simply mine JSECoin tokens. The user can choose the mining intensity depending upon his CPU's power and usage.
With their ICO live, JSECoin token sale is on for 90 days or until the cap (20,000,000 JSECoin tokens) is reached, whichever comes earlier. You can learn all about ICO here.
