New Steem: @SmartSteem Begins the Curation of Steem-centric Contents - Will Other Bots Follow?

As far as the bid bot industry on Steem is concerned, @Smartsteem needs no introduction. With millions of stake in Steem Power, @Smartsteem is one of the most prominent voting services doing business on Steem.

Yesterday, in the spirit of the new Steem, the team behind @Smartsteem announced that it will start curating Steem-centric content.

Here is why @Smartsteem is making this brilliant move:

Our goal is to incentivize people to make contributions, that are valuable for Steem, thus enhancing our ecosystem and making it in return more valuable; whether this is on a social level (writing posts) or on a more technical level (creating/contributing to open-source Steem projects).

Does Writing Steem-centric Post On Steem Make Any Sense?

A couple of times, I've met some critics here who believe that writing Steem-centric essays make no sense. They argue that it is like talking aloud to yourself - nobody really cares.

This school of thought goes further to argue that you must be on Steem (in the first place) to read Steem-centric posts. What then is the value of Steem-centric posts?

Permit me to state here that writing Steem-centric posts on Steem make sense for the following reasons:

• Education: Steem-centric posts are good because they generally educate members of the Steem community on the recent happenings on Steem.

Most of the Steem interfaces out there still make it chaotic to discover valuable information about Steem. However, with more Steem-centered contents out there more community members can get to know what is happening to Steem.

• Steem Promotion: Steem-centric posts have a way of promoting Steem to both members of the Steem community and those who are outside the Steem ecosystem.

If you type the word "Steem coin" on Google, for example, you'll not only get results from Wikipedia amd Medium, some prominent posts about Steem on Steem will also pop up. So, that way the outside world gets to know about Steem from the horses mouth.

• Confidence in Steem: I've met a couple of people here who told me they feel more confident about Steem reading the informed perspectives of others about it.

Personally, I feel more confident about Steem whenever I read great posts talking about the ongoing development on Steem.

Perhaps, this is why I frequently visit the blog of @taskmaster1440, who has become a well-known Steem advocate and commentator.

Why Other Bots Should Follow the Personal Example of @Smartsteem

@Smartsteem has already set the pace, focusing its curation efforts on Steem-centric contents. It is a commendable move, really.

I expect that in the coming days other bots will follow the personal example of @Smartsteem by picking their own genres and curating it appropriately.

There are still great tags such as fiction, lifestyle, photography, music, science, religion, arts, etc waiting for curators.

By following the personal example of @Smartsteem, more authors, especially the budding ones, will be motivated to write since it is likely that their efforts will be rewarded.

The new Steem has come upon us. It is not the time to wallow in the valley of self-voting - it is time to ascend into the mountain of curation and make Steem great again.
