Commodore's Log Stardate 97202.77 - Starbase Genesis1

My Operations Officer has informed me that we are well on our way to having a Phase 20 Shield Generator on both Starbases. This has allowed us enough protection to be able to Phase Up nearly any Building, Skill or Blueprint that we need. Every now and then we build some Corvettes to avoid having too many resources lost from the pirate attacks. Captain Dixon's task force is continuing to work on the issue of protecting more minerals, but has come across a problem concerning the advancement of the Bunkers.

Our Bunker here at Genesis1 is presently at Phase 14, while Genesis2 is at Phase 13. While this gives us good coverage, the amount of resources needed for further Phasing has gone up considerably. This has led the team to recommend including the Depots in my Top Priority Order. The argument is that our Bunkers shield a percentage of our minerals within our Depots, which means that if we Phase Up either the Bunkers or the Depots, the amount of units protected increases. The team's assessment and reasoning seems sound to me, so I have granted the authorization to modify the Order to include the Depots.

The morale of both colonies has improved since we opened the Shipyards and Mission Control on both Bases. As Captain Davis puts it, "The mutiny jokes have all but disappeared!" This does not lighten my burden, however. The fact remains that we are still without any significant defenses to be able to build or protect a fleet. We have yet to build our first Explorer II as it is too risky to consume all of those resources just to have the ship destroyed before its first mission. Most of our local space has been explored, so we need to find a way to get those Explorers out there to find new planets.

Requests for advanced defensive technologies have been sent to Ambassador Deliah' MIIXV of Cruq'al, but to my dismay the Head of the Interstellar Research Community has let it be known that their priority at the moment continues to be on the accumulation, development and distribution of the recently discovered STARDUST. As always, in this journey of galactic expansion, the number one principle remains PATIENCE.
