Some things you did not know about Nicholas Copernicus !

in #nicholas6 years ago

Polish stronologist and clergyman Nikola Kopernik died on 24 May 1543, revolutionized science with his heliocentric theory in the solar system.

Orphans very study.

The father of modern astronomy was born on 19 February 1473 in Torun, Poland. He remained an orphan at age 10 and a bishop who was a bishop and professor took care of his education. He studied at several universities: Krakow, Bologna, Rome, Padua ...

Polygon Characters.

Copernicus deepened his studies in many subjects; mathematics, medicine, physics, law, philosophy, theology, economics, greek, diplomacy and astronomy. The latter would be his passion, but only spent in his spare time when he left his official jobs as a canonist, economist, politician, and lawyer.

His theory came from afar.

His revolutionary heliocentric theory; planets including the Earth revolve around the Sun and not the opposite as Ptolemy affirmed in the second century, was actually formulated by Aristarchus of Samos, III century BC but was rejected.

Copernican branch.

Copernicus developed it at "De revolutionibus orbium coelestium" on the revolutions of heavenly bodies. It was not published until recently that he died in 1543 for fear of the Church. The change that brought about the Copernican circulation term today refers to any radical and absolute change.

The "guilt" was of Galileo.

The proliferation of his work and theory would in fact be a consequence of the process against the man of science, astronomy, engineer and Italian physicist Galileo Galilei (1564-1642), who defended him and was tried for it by the Church for Incitement.

Homage to space.

A crater on the moon, located at Mare Insularum, is baptized in honor of Copernicus. Also objects or other places associated with the space bear his name, for example since 1934 an asteroid discovered by Karl Wilhelm Reinmuth is named (1322) Coppernicus.

Even in chemistry.

In the periodic table of chemical elements there is a name in honor of the Polish astronomer. On 19 February 2010, the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) named element 112 of this table by copernicus name.

The tomb was discovered in 2005.

The place where the remains of Copernicus were laid were discovered in 2005 by Polish archaeologist Jerzy Gassowski under a blaze in the cathedral of Frombork, Poland where Copernicus was canonized. DNA analyzes confirmed in 2008 that it was about it.
