They Called It Democracy

They call it a democracy, they celebrate their victory.

Blood of the masses fill the street but they celebrate their victory.

They make false promises and keep us impoverished but they celebrate their victory.

We picked between two evils and either way, the next four years still looks bleak, they celebrate their victory.

I've never been someone who listens or follows what happens in politics. I have reservations for politicians and everything that has to do with the government because I think they are sneaky people who get in power for their personal benefit or hunger for power.

In Nigeria, all we have as politicians are power drunk individuals who can't get enough of the juice. They keep us down with their lopsided policies and pointless projects for self gratification. These old men from years past have a grapple hold on power, they don't believe in the future.

The worst set of people are the people who suffer and still sell their vote for cheap. They're the masses that reside in remote/low income parts of Nigeria and suffer the most. In those areas, there's no electricity, no pipe borne water, terrible internet and infrastructure but whenever there's an election, there's always materials available to get their votes; this is because those areas have the most population and they often sell their votes. The corruption runs deep and one man can't change or fix it.

What do I know anyways, I'm just a keyboard warrior in front of my screen trying to decentralize the world. Until we meet again, stay alive and be strong for your loved ones.
