The Land Is Green

in #nigeria6 years ago

Sitting in the heart of the sub-Saharan Africa is the country blessed with diversity of culture, green vegetation, and great people. Founded on a rugged ground, it has witnessed astronomical growth, both in economy and all whatnot. The country Nigeria has shone the light of the black African culture to the world "within" and "without".

Even when colonialism greeted her and made people strangers in their own fatherland; we refused to be cracked under the pressure of external forces. Rather, we rose to our feet and put to flight the aliens - and kept at bay the tensile forces of the devourers. All for the love of our crude oil; they did fight; but the resilience of our past heroes raised a standard against them.

Nigeria has been through stress and strain, which, the opposition is normal for a country with great potentials. But in all these, we refused to crack under pressures of colonialism. And we have emerged as gold from the furnace - better and finer.

I am a Nigerian, and like the green land suggests, we're synonymous with growth, development, fertility, and diversity. Our strength lies; among others; in our cultural diversity. Even though our religious and political background could suggest otherwise, but we are still one people, and we are part of a great nation. This has brought to reminiscence this song by TY Bello:

I love Nigeria; My Nigeria

God bless Nigeria, God bless Nigerians

Peace on y'all

Your country has been through a lot... and still is. I am really amazed by the strong Nigerian community here on Steemit. As long as the people of the land are "standing", the land is green! :)

Yes you're right.. Naija has been through a lot; but what doesn't crack us would make us stronger right?
The land is always green.
