DPRK SUMMIT TODAY! | What Kim Wants. **What Trump Wants** BEST/WORST outcomes.

in #northkorea6 years ago

So this summit is happening and I'm beginning to sus that both leaders & strongmen are having second doubts. The way I see it this could go one of two ways:

  1. Amazingly spectacular. Couldn't have gone better. They got along and things were great.
  2. Back to "Fire & Fury" with two stubborn pigheaded men heading back to their palaces. (one in Pyongyang, the other in Mar-A-Lago)

Scenario A)

Kim walks into a room where President Trump awaits him. Both strongmen lock eyes with each other; sizing each other up. Trump lets out a nasty, boisterous smelling fart, blaming the Singapore noodles "they give me indigestion" he utters to his translator who then translates in Korean. The most tense, cold silence follows suit for a good 15 what seems like never-ending seconds.

Both men burst into laughter. They bond over their similarities; bad hairstyles, the global media's public perception & reporting of their characters. How they are both described as authoritarians. Two months later both men are sipping mai tais at Mar-a-Lago.

Scenario B)

Both men come into the meeting hotheaded with unrealistic expectations. It ends as soon as it begins.

So for obvious reasons we want scenario A. But in order for that to be a realistic and plausible outcome; we need realistic & feasible expectations. For one; expecting DPRK to de-nuclearize after they've already developed a hydrogen bomb, ICBMs, and nearly completed their nuclear program is an unrealistic demand. We can't expect a deal like the Iran Deal; where they promised to slow their development down, because Kim already has the nukes.

So if he won't de-nuclerize, what's the alternative?

SIMPLE. IN short this meeting is much like Nixon going to China. What can the west/U.S. ask of the DPRK? That they become quasi-capitalist; with open borders, a free market, and a direct airline from Seoul to Pyongyang, with the abolishment of labor camps, as well as quarterly U.N. inspections on chemical/biological/nuclear weapons. They are to HALT production on their nuclear weapons but not halt research.

In addition to complying with quarterly inspections; 4 surprise inspections are permitted at any point throughout every 4 quarters. This is to ensure that the DPRK doesn't take measures to prepare for "hiding development" and full transparency. As long as Kim does not pose himself as a threat, and opens up to the world, than nobody will fear him going off the rails and nuking Seoul/Tokyo/U.S.

Okay... That makes sense. Still a lot to ask for & expect... What's in it for Kim/DPRK?

Simple. Desperately needed economic sanction relief. As long as the DPRK can play nice & promise not to be the hermit kingdom; we can provide them with enough sanction relief so that they won't need to depend on labor camps to keep their barely functioning society/economy afloat. The sanction relief will provide a better GDP/economy thus better infrastructure and no more need for labor camps. So they are mutually exclusive; more economic development = better human rights.

It really isn't a negotiation at this point. The North has advanced their nuclear weapons capability to a point of no return; in that the U.S. will no longer sit idly by as they continue without some sort of END to this armistice. For Trump, that leaves a bloody brutal nuclear war as one potential option on the table. For Kim; the survival of his regime and his life hangs in the balance.

Let's all hope & pray for the best. Peace & Love everyone. God help them in Signapore...
