Zeus reassures Hera

Today I return to the Greek myths with the presentation of a watercolor dedicated to a couple from Olympus.

Hera and Zeus.

As is my custom, I will explain some interesting things about the most famous couple of Hellas and at the same time I will talk about some particular communication strategies in the art of great artists that are much more deserving than myself.
Hera, for the mythology and religiosity of the Greeks was the patron of childbirth and above all of marital fidelity, therefore of marriage.
Because Zeus was a scoundrel, and he loved to have fun with other Moorish maidens, like nimphs or other minor goddesses, Hera, very jealous, followed him, and controlled him.
Often the goddess instructed other little maidens, to control the love flights of her partner, as well as husband, and the poor spies always had to report everything they had seen or knew about Zeus.

A small nimph named Eco did unfortunately a bad end, just to be persuaded by Zeus to distract Hera.
But the Goddess noticed the deception and made the voice lose to Eco, who could only repeat the final part of the voice of others.
I stop, because I will speak in other posts of the Greek myths that are so effective and full of details of everyday life.

In my watercolor you can see that I used a pyramid or triangle composition, as the greatest Masters of Art History taught me.
The couple sits high, above a sort of shell of fire, and are naked, as in the good tradition of Ancient Greece.
Zeus, turns gently to kiss Hera, and the two seem happy.

Instead, let's move on to something more serious and worthy of attention. the pyramid or triangle composition.

In my humble watercolor I used the triangle pattern to highlight the maximum authority of the Olympian couple. I have to thank the Great Masters who taught me these communication techniques!

Liberty Leading the People

In the famous work of Delacroix, the triangle pattern enhances the female (rather masculine) figure of the Revolution that holds the French flag.
The muscular arm of the revolutionary is a perfect example of conduction of the eyes of the spectator to the point concerned, namely the flag.

The Pity

Let's move on to the pyramidal scheme studied and used in the greatest sculpture of all time: Michelangelo!
The Genius of the sixteenth century created an upward swing in the volume of his sculptural group, bringing the viewer's gaze to admire the profound sadness of the mother of Christ, which serves as a masterly counterpoint to the lack of vision of her son's face.
If we are in front of this Wonder of Man, to observe the face of the Madonna we must bow!

Guernica

And now the most famous contemporary painting against war and human suffering. Guernica!
Picasso pictorially generates a multitude of forms and bodies. The dimensions of the canvas are immense 350 x 780 cm. and the artist wants to show us the central point of the tragedy; the horse. And through the two bases on either side of the enormous canvas, represented by the hand and the foot, we lead the gaze upwards, where the artist wants.

I hope I have interested you.

Best wishes.

Thanks for sharing your beautiful artwork as well as the story. I like stories about gods and goddesses even though I am a disbeliever. 😉

They only serve to explain some of our behaviors and habits.

Colori stupendi come sempre!

ahahhaha XD
