Ancient Port

We entered the small port around noon.
The crossing had been very pleasant and the sight of the ancient fishing village was a real triumph of happiness.
From a distance we could see the small houses, above the quay, climbing one on top of the other, playing with lights and shadows in colors now bright and soft now.

The thermal, a mistral was the contour of the serenity of the port.

We docked without too much trouble and above all without having to pay exorbitant amounts, without booking.
The Portolano di Procida was among the cheapest in the central-southern Tyrrhenian Sea.

There were not many boats over 40 feet, only small goiters and some fishing boats, the September period facilitated us.

After mooring, we went down to look for a place to eat something good.
We started walking towards the small ancient village, the shadow of the alleys and the arches was a joy, gave us a sense of well-being and further tranquility.

It was a party of inns and small restaurants that competed with the smells and colors of the exposed tables with the fish on display, freshly caught.

We let ourselves be attracted by the smell of a tiny inn, inside a side alley, with 4 tables outside in the shade of a canopy roof.
An inebriating scent, of sauce in a pan with the fish, and a roast of fish, which was to cook on coals, in the ancient way, prawns and squid above waited to be tasted.

Not before an excellent bruschetta with mussels, tomatoes and fresh anchovies.

We ate with taste, all washed down with an excellent Moscato of Ischia.

A short walk and the thought of the boat to be washed with fresh water brought us back on board.
I had permission from my friends to go to the tip of the pier and give vent to my desire to represent that paradise of the sea, with boats and typical houses carved into the rock or limestone tuff.

I was very happy to avoid cleaning and I devoted myself completely to my watercolor.

Entrammo nel piccolo porto verso mezzogiorno.
La traversata era stata molto piacevole ed il colpo d'occhio dell'antico borgo marinaro fu un vero trionfo di felicità.
Scorgevamo da lontano le piccole case, sopra la banchina, arrampicarsi l'una sull'altra, giocando con luci e ombre dai colori ora brillanti ora tenui.

La termica, a maestrale faceva da contorno alla serenità del porto.

Attraccammo senza troppi problemi e soprattutto senza dover pagare cifre esorbitanti, senza prenotare.
Il Portolano di Procida era tra i più economici del Tirreno centro-meridionale.

Non c'erano molte barche oltre i 40 piedi, solo piccoli gozzi e qualche peschereccio, il periodo settembrino ci agevolava.

Dopo aver ormeggiato, scendemmo per cercare un posto in cui mangiare qualcosa di buono.
Ci avviammo a piedi verso il piccolo borgo antico, l'ombra dei vicoli e degli archi era una gioia, ci dava un senso di benessere e ulteriore tranquillità.

Era una festa di locande e piccoli ristoranti che gareggiavano con gli odori ed i colori dei banchi a vista col pesce esposto, appena pescato.

Ci lasciammo attrarre dall'odore di una locanda piccolissima, dentro un vicolo laterale, con 4 tavolini fuori all'ombra di una tettoia di canne.

Un profumo inebriante, di salsa in padella con il pescato, e un arrosto di pesce, che era a cuocere su carboni, alla maniera antica, gamberi e calamari sopra aspettavano di essere assaggiati non prima di una ottima bruschetta con cozze, pomodoro e alici freschissime.

Mangiammo con gusto, il tutto innaffiato con un ottimo moscato di Ischia.

Una breve passeggiata e il pensiero alla barca da lavare con acqua dolce ci fece rientrare a bordo.
Ebbi il permesso dai miei amici per andare sulla punta del molo e dare sfogo alla mia voglia di rappresentare quel paradiso di mare, con le barche e le case tipiche scavate nella roccia o nel tufo calcareo.

Fui molto contento di scansare le pulizie e mi dedicai completamente al mio acquarello.
