Another busy day and remembering my sweet cat

ntopaz-image-0A Painting I made of my dear old cat Puss.

The entire thing without the crop:

One of the few sketches I made before making the final piece:

I have been far too distracted this week.

I'd every intention of having a few more things finished and up online by this point, but Life happens. Things come up and you have to make time for them and your friends. I hope to get down to business more soon.

I am off again this morning, so I thought I'd share a work I made last year of my darling cat Puss.

Puss came to us with our house Toad Hall as she lived there when we moved in.

It was not love at first sight and she was actually a bit feral. But, her desire to be loved overcame her fears and within a few months she wouldn't leave my side.

She was often more dog companion than my actual dogs.

And she loved to walk down to the beach with me in the morning and when I'd go for my post walk swim, she'd wait on the shore where the water met the sand until I came back out.

Unfortunately we lost her lost year. I mean literally lost her as she went out one day and never came back. She was very old, but she was also a great hunter and had not been eaten by foxes or such well before she became a house cat, but I think it was a fox that moved into our yard.

However she passed, she is greatly missed.

Whatever work I do, whether it is more painting or illustration, I always make studies in pencil and often pencil and water colour to play with ideas and such before I make a final piece. It's just how I have always worked and I really enjoy the process.

I think one of the reasons I was a Printmaker for some years was loving the process.

But, I digress.

Here is the piece in gif form showing some of the layers from sketch to background colour to shading and final detail:

I actually made this as a limited edition digital print on Makers Place. I really think art on the block chain is going to be a major way people will collect and share art in the future. It makes me wonder what a future edition of Antiques Road Show would be like? Will there be someone a hundred years from now pressing a button and the painting they've brought in just appear like Princess Lea's Hollogram?

Well, I am off for the day. I hope you have a day where you can get a few minutes to yourself and get some tasks finished. I am longing to check off things on my list, it is such a satisfying feeling.

If you feel so inclined please upvote, resteem, and by all means comment below.

Thanks @livvu It both makes me sad and also smile to see it as it reminds me of how sweet she was.

I love your artwork! This painting has a soft and cuddly a bit misty side in it, I assume as Puss was. :)
Remembering past pets is always a bitter sweet thing to do.

Thank you @insaneworks . It is definitely bittersweet.

I never (unfortunately) met Puss in person (or cat?) , but your wonderful telling's and discussions made it seem like I did. I miss her too. They are such a joy in our lives. I can just imagine her sitting at the water's edge as you paddle out, wondering "now where did she get off to"? followed by "I hope she returns from the watery drink soon, I can see WAY too much of the bottom of my Kibbles bowl up in yonder kitchen". Said with all-knowing inflection of katterly delight.
Glad you are busy, and not bored or any of that. Though I know that's a very small likelihood. And I enjoyed your take on future art. I think it's hard to imagine now what the world will be like in the future. Knowledge and technology is so exponentially built on what we know and do. It's almost un-fathomable what might be 'down the pike'. Though you are acutely aware of that with your drawings of the future. That is if we don't get rid of all our precious oxygen and other important life stuff (WAY beyond the techno front) from the oceans and such first. I'm hoping not. I rather like it here. Cheers, my friend.

Oh @ddschteinn so good to 'hear' from you. I've been such a fair'weather steemit friend of late, but it can't be helped, too many fun things to do and too hard to say no to my friends here.

You would have loved Puss. Even though we never even truly named her, as she was simply Puss because as got used to her I'd just call, "Here puss puss" but she definitely became a family member quite quickly.

Yes, who knows what the future will be. I think there will definitely be more VR and AR though, I just feel it coming.

Definitely missing your powerful presence around here, life does get in the way of Steemin, I understand! We'll be here awaiting your triumphant return.

I'm happy I spotted this post about Puss! You must be doing some healing, being able to write a post about her and share this piece. Poor Puss... :'( Poor Donna :'( Sending you both tonnes of good energy. xo

I've thought of many of my steemians when I am out and about in England. I really thought of you @lydsaybowes when we got our house. As proudly displayed upon a placard out front next the front door was the name of our house "Willowbrook". I know you like a named house.

Many houses and cottages have names here and often you rely on them more than a numbered address. ON our street alone (which is the High street in this little village) almost every cottage/house up and down is name.

Ours is so named as there is a giant ancient willow in the garden and brook that runs through it.

I think it's just that I am the most productive in the morning and I've not been able to get that time to myself with my friends wanting to do things all the time. Which is good on one hand for fun, but bad on getting any work done or not stressing out about work piling up. I have to fine that happy medium.

I truly do miss Steemit the way I used to be able to access it and comment and interact more. The pull between life IRL and life Digital.

Wowww... Willowbrook has such a pleasant sound to it, the name, and the actual property!

Just think of it this way, all of your time away from the Steem world is just giving you great stuff to write about and draw when "real life" slows back down to a nice steady boringness haaa :) That, can wait!

Your artworks are amazing and for this reason I like it and I want to tell you thanks to share It with us! Thanks to @c-square to resteem this great contents.
Congratulations andSteem on!

Beautiful cat, she looks very content. Well done with the fluffiness of the fur around the face and the colors. Those little blues do a lot

Thanks @mikkolyytinen she was a wonderful beautiful creature. Thanks for noticing the blue, a perfect compliment to her ginger fur I thought to make the white pop.

Very beautiful artwork and Puss reminds me a lot of my cat Pazouzou. I know how you felt beacuse i lost her too last year for about a month but at the end someone called and i found her.

Oh what joy @georgeboya to have her back and great name for the cat too. We didn't grieve for a month as we figured she was a pretty good outdoor cat so maybe she was off on a long hunt, but then she didn't come back after all. So sad.

Cats are resilient creatures and the best hunters in the planet. Who knows, maybe in the future you you will have a surprise:)
