My Black and White Drawing made into a graphic

I played with this image yesterday and today to make this graphic to put onto things.

The original piece was done this past October for #inktober. And in fact I did it in transit in the UK whilst staying in an airbnb waiting for our house to be ready there.

I had based my Inktober sketches on witches.

And thus I was able to indulge my love of the female form in my black and white drawings.

After having a good sit down with myself trying to find foucs, as I talked about in my last post, I thought yesterday I'd address my body of #inktober sketches and play with them graphically to make new things.

This piece was a combination of a free use oval frame that I enlarged and then added and played with to make the outer decoration of this piece. I created it to sell on my society6 pageas well as others, hopefully.

I think it looks pretty good on things.

I was so happy with so much engagement on my last post.

It's nice to see that other creative people also struggle with this idea of focus. And for me it has never been that I don't have enough inspiration, but that I often have TOO much. And it is trying to divide my ideas into tangible finished pieces and to also divide my days accordingly to involve finished pieces and setting things out into the world for sale.

The internet has made a wonderful change and opportunity for the artist.

We have many more outlets in which to sell and share our things which is great. Yet, the ability to 'do it all ourselves' is tempting and good, but in some ways can leave us feeling we are always "Chasing our tails" and trying to catch up.

It is the balance between Creation and Mercantilism that I am trying to perfect.

It is an ongoing process and I am glad that I get this platform and all of you in which to discuss it and also to learn and share. I love that we Steemians are there to bounce ideas off or simply share our troubles and frustrations with, as well as sharing our conquests.

I hope all of you find a moment today to hone that balance between creation and sharing, between reading and enjoying as well as posting, and between living and simply reveling in a day.

Black and whites are back! YAY! BUT I don't see anything 'strange' in this one.. is there anything that I've missed? Like a cat hiding there or something in her hair or .... ;) With you one never knows :)

I must say that this one does look pretty good on those items to sell. That pillow would be my favorite as it fits the shape perfectly :)

Can you do something specific if someone would place an order? I mean some certain pattern or illustration..

Have a lovely weekend!

Thanks @delishtreats funny you should say that there isn't an animal hiding in it, as this was the ONLY one I did in #inktober without an animal because I had to do it quickly on my surface (rather then my good tablet that was packed) whilst waiting for my friends to wake up before we headed off for the day. I just really liked the play of black and white, though and so thought it'd be a good one to play with this morning as well.

Yes, I will do commission work, but I'm pretty choosy about it. It depends on what the person wants and how 'specific' they want it. If you're interested, just ask, I'm usually open to trying anything art wise and even if someone didn't like it, I'd probably still use it in some way.

Hahaha, I was looking at it for about five minutes trying to find that hidden creature :D good to know that there is none :D I just assumed that there would be as this is very specific for you but I understand why you don't have it this time :)

I'm thinking about that as I really enjoy your black and whites.. I will talk to my husband and see how we could combine our interests in one art work. It would be cool to have something like that at home. Can you give me your discord ID so that I can contact you privately in case we come up with something what we both would like? :) Thank you!

I actually stupidly have 2 discord names, but on the main computer I am currently using I am signed in on discord at donna davis art. :)

Beautifully drawn Donna. Love how a fine white line or even the mere suggestion of one, with your dashed lines can give us the idea of voluminous shapes. ♥︎♥︎⚖️♥︎♥︎

Thanks @allyinspirit I'm glad you appreciate my minimalist lines. If you knew that it was actually a study in repression for me when I do my black and white. I am so much a maxamalist that to keep it simple and clean is part of the point of these drawings and is why I think they take me to a Zen place as I need to get 'out of me head' when I am doing them :)

They serve a wonderful and very useful purpose then ~ As well as being so visually enchanting. The image also looks great applied to other items. Love the design on the cup. It would also work on pillows. Stunning in an all-white bedroom setting. ♥︎♥︎⚖️♥︎♥︎

I love it on the mug, and especially like what she holds in her hand - it almost feels like it moves and is such a great juxtaposition with the weight of the ink in the rest of the image.

Thanks so much @natureofbeing. I'm so happy to see you 'around' :)

Yes, the 'magic' in her hand. This was the one piece sans animal I did and as I said in another comment, I did it in stolen morning hours in an airbnb trying to continue to create whilst waiting on my friends to awake and be off for the day. We were still house hunting then and I was really determined to get things done.

I later found it rather good and knew that the limited time meant I could not 'overwork' it and that idea of limited structured time is really going to be part of my trying to hone my look and time...we shall see.

Your latest ceramic piece was STUNNING and gorgeous.

Limits can be very helpful sometimes, can't they?!! Great to hear about how you knocked this out and didn't have a chance to overwork it. I also really relate to how you are later realizing how well it turned out...sometimes it takes me awhile to really see if a piece was any good or not.

Best wishes with tweaking your time structure and thanks for the compliment :-)), btw, I still don't know yet if that mural is any good. I know I've done all I can do on it, but still need time to see its value.

I love it - it's a strong graphic and indeed looks gorgeous on 'things' as you say, hehe. Have you ordered many of the pieces you sell yourself to see the quality? Would be curious to know how the t-shirts are - thick or thin fabric, etc. Have a great Sunday Donna!

I have and I actually like the thickness of the tees. The travel mugs are really nice, as I've not only one but my friends have all got them and like them.

I want to get some curtains. I'm going to be doing over a place this Spring and I'm going to design a pattern for it and get curtains, showercurtain, wallpaper, towels, bed linens etc. So that will be fun and let me have more to see quality.

My Sis has one of my pieces as a duvet cover and she really likes the texture of the cotton.

Wonderful idea Donna, the pillow is the best and i think it will look also perfect as a clock:)

Thanks @georgeboya it does look pretty good as a clock. I'll also play with it in repeat and mirror to make fabric/etc. It's just finding time for all!

Yes i understand, even this posts, crops and resizes take a lot of time at s6...

Because she sees me so fixedly? what did I do XD

That black hair like the night without stars and her posture on the pillow I like, seems to be a very elegant girl. <3 <3 <3
