Anna's Melancholy. Handcut collage 100/70cm.

Another artwork from the Baroque period created with my stained glass technique. I do not remember whose painting the figure was inspired of, i guess Carravagio but i am not sure. Again the bright red dominates the artwork accompanied by a a leathery brown and a fleshy tone for the face and hands. For the background i chose a set from the amazing engravings of Gustav Dore inverted and gave them a greenish tone to imitate a glass effect. This time i also decided to include the imaginary source of light that helps me create highlights and shadows, in the shape of a bright sun.

It is a large artwork, 100/70cm and consists of print pieces cut and glued with a stick glue on a black hardboard. I do not use any varnish on the artwork because it destroys the paper, i usually have a frame ready or they go straight to a storage area to be safe.

Details.

This is an interesting technique to see. I can't really imagine how it works though. You do a digital painting, then print it, then cut it and glue it together? This is most likely not how it works but I can't think of any other way to do it..

I like the bright red in comparison with quite busy but not that vibrant background. And that beautiful makes all the painting come to life.

Well done! Thank you for sharing and have a nice day!

Thank you so much for your kind words😊 Well, this is not exactly how it was made but it is very difficult to understand it through a photo. If you could see it in person you would have seen that actually is a simple technique. I make the scetch in a transparent paper then I use it as a guide to make the artwork on a hardboard the same size with the paper. The paper is above the hardboard. Next I take prints of coloured paper and start cutting them according to the guide and then glue them checking all the time with the scetch. It is like a puzzle 😊 I promise to upload a half finished older artwork for you to understand a little better 😊 when I get back from work. Thank you again😊

I love your uniqe method for producing these artworks @georgeboya. The results are vibrant and stunning. I was particularly drawn to the butterfly and its symbolism of metamorphosis and transformation.

Thank you so much @livvu 😊 I am so happy that you noticed the butterfly, I forgot to write about it. I think it is one of the first I put in an artwork. It was an attempt to have some symbolic details and the idea of Rebirth is what I had in mind, indeed😊

It has the Caravaggio look in drapery and pose. I love it.

Yes, i think so too, i ve made a lot of artwork based on his paintings back then because of the dramatic contrast and the clothes:) Thank you very much Donna:)
