The woman in yellow with leaves

in #ntopaz5 years ago (edited)

After I sold a painting based on a similar subject and style (a woman with just few lines in her faces and who is wearing a yellow dress), I decided it could be nice to paint a new one piece of this series and so here I am with my new oil painting on paper (A4 size).

The idea of this kind of character came to me from some sketches I use to draw on different scratches of paper when I'm on the train or when I'm waiting in the postal office.  Simple sketch in a minimalist style where faces have just few lines to represent their noses and eyes.   For the background in this piece I used one of my favorite shade of color: the Grey of Payne. I love this kind of color  because it's a shade of blue not so brilliant and I can mix it with a touch of white or to give on it a touch of burnt umber to have an interesting background in my paintings.

I added on this artwork some leaves in white, just few leaves on the dress starting from the bottom, like a plant of ivy that are running up the woman. I hope you like it. ^_^

See ya soon and happy Wednesday to you all!

Thanks so much, @georgeboya ! Working on this kind of subject I focus my attention on the colors and how they work together, because of this I lpaint the face just using few lines, so the watcher can pay attention to the colors :D

You are welcome Silvia:) I am trying to keep the pallete as simple as possible in my artworks. Your artworks have this relaxing feeling, art that someone would appreciete after a hard workday in his home:)

Just amazing! Love it

Another lovely illustration. I truly enjoy your original style. I haven't never seen something like this before. It does look simple but it is so catchy. The color combinations that you use are spot on. I can see that you're thinking about them and you always choose the best for given painting.

The small detail on her dress has a huge effect and it looks like she would be losing them :)

Thank you for sharing and have a good rest of the day!

Interesting work, everything is done so neat and minimalist!

This is a style that we love, minimalist subjective. You can feel many things to see your work, this work takes you to a place calm where you could think of anything and we love that in all these shades of Gray, the yellow highlight creating a perfect combination.

In addition, your description has been very friendly and professional, we feel with you on the train drawing haha. Thank you for sharing your talent through ntopaz!

I truly love these pieces in your style @silviabeneforti as they seem like the more 'serious' thoughts of your more jovial big head characters, if that makes any sense. I also love the use of colour in these and we must be in sync this week in mind as one of my chair pieces is yellows and greys. They are always such a good combo.

This kind of style make me feel in peace with my need to work on something less jovial the my big head characters. These figure help me to represent more things and different emotion thank the big smiling head :D

Lonely feeling to this piece. Love the little ivys; great piece!

Many thanks for your nice words, @twirble ^^

As usual it’s a wonderful painting! I like it!
Have a nice day!

A nice day to you too, dear friend ^_^

I have to tell you that i am in LOVE with these colors and especially the subtle yet powerful grey background. The hint of her casting a shadow ties it all together for me. I like little shadows as it helps me to get a good perspective on light direction.
