[CR] Squishy the cuttlefish has leveled up!

Squishy’s come a long long way...

Hey friends! I’m just wrapping up another drawing progress update before I prepare to play Mansions of Madness with @kommienezuspadt, @treigh-c and @tarotbyfergus. When our group played last Friday we were defeated and it was bitter sweet. This time we’re determined to test out new strategies to beat the game!

So my beloved galaxy colored cuttlefish has returned new and improved. I’ve already doubled the amount of time that I’d usually spend on a drawing but it’s worth it. Squishy looks awesome! Just wait until you see what I have planned for this ball of cuteness!

I forget which layer I stopped on in my last post so I’m gonna take a wild guess and assume it was right here. :)

From that last image, I began to add brighter colors in a fuchsia tone. I thought I could use this as a deeper shadow but it wasn’t quite right.

So then I went in with another purple shade which looked much better!

Next, I wanted squishy to appear transparent. I began to go in with a light layer of pastel yellow.

I was satisfied with the look of the pastels so I continued to build up the layers. I also threw in a light wash of lime green. Then a pastel blue to the fins which tied it together with the colors on the rest of the body.

Before I called it quits, I used black to create more contrast and it helps to make squishy look even more transparent. Then details to the eyes.

So that’s how squishy’s looks leveled up...

Opening up another file _{(because the original was just about maxed out for layers)} I began to sketch a chibi body for Squishy. First, I thought about making the body ridiculously small and sketching a pose where squishy was having trouble keeping itself balanced because of it’s enlarged head. In the end I chose this cute but fierce pose.

I’m gonna take another break from Squishy so I can work on other drawings.
