An Emergency Rescue!
Oh no! It looked like the Mantid had drowned!
It is always harrowing to discover the death of a beautiful animal, or insect, or of any life whatsoever. We have recently had to see the little guinea fowl keets disappearing one after the other, taken by predators over the days and now there is only one left. And now we have this accident.
Let's see if I can save her!
Marian (wife) found the mantid drifting in this bucket of rain water!
She handed the mantid to me and it was water logged!
I tenderly placed her on a succulent flower in the morning sun!
Here you can see that she moved a bit after an hour!
And here she even lifted her head!
But in the afternoon she didn't look any better.
I will take her inside later, but it doesn't look good!
Always heartsore when something like this happens. A wonderful creature forfeited its life in a stupid bucket of rainwater. But such is life and cars on the roads kill thousands of insects every day, not even to mention animals.
I seek a world where supreme care is taken of all life, where the waters are fresh and clean, without trash clogging the systems. Where the oceans are protected and bulk fishing is banned.
Where mankind takes responsibility for managing the earth for the futures sake.
There are so many wrongs in our world today and it's almost like we are all caught up in the progress web of profits before common sense.
A sad and harrowing situation!

That is so sad when something dies when it just trying to get a drink! I have rainbarrels that have a bit of a lip on them which the bees will get a drink if there is water on it. Often there is not water there and I'll find one drowned in the water right in the barrel. I might have to keep a special water dish out for the bees for we seem to attract a lot of them to our year.

In an ideal world, mankind will indeed be the one managing resources and planning the future of the Earth, but sadly as usual, the world is not ideal at all :P

Sad it ended up in a water barrel, leaving it in the shrubs may be best course of action to find food, warm up and possibly revive itself.
Every insect counts, the world needs to be more aware before swatting a pest, they do their bit in nature.
Thank you Lady Joan, I wrapped it in a warm cloth last night, but this morning it was dead.
