Daily Vlog #3: @littledrummerboy and His Blue Pillow
Today has finally come! It's @littledrummerboy's special day, hahaha. It is because he willingly surrendered his dearest blue pillow for a wash.
He has been telling me while hugging it, "Mummy, look at my blur pillow, it's so soft! " with a super manja (very gentle and cute) way. So, I was thinking how I am going to wash the blue pillow as I don't want to take it away without his consent. But it really gives out a smell now, and he loves it. Before this, I could only sun it and febreeze it but we have only washed it once.
Today, his daddy asked him if he could let it be washed. He said okay! I should have followed them to record the whole process but I did this video after. He is still asking me every few minutes now where his blue pillow is, oh dear. I think I will be asked that the whole day all the way until it comes back after being dried and sunned. Please quicken the process, God!
@littledrummerboy has had this blue pillow since he was 1 year old and has never slept a day without it. Not sure if the new smell will please him or not too, oh -oh!!!! Besides his blue pillow, there is still Tenderheart actually, so hopefully Tenderheart will do for now!
I think it is healthy for a child to find comfort in these items dear to them. There can be some sort of emotional attachment for them to be calmed down faster with them around. They will grow out of it one day as they learn to find comfort themselves. Though, comfort is something we cannot out grow actually. Everyone can hit rock bottom and comfort is so much needed in those times. Some people may find it in food, in doing activities like movies, as long as it is healthy and not overdone until an addiction develops or we get out of control of it, I think it is fine. Comfort is a valid need.
Okay, thank you for watching my short video about a little incident that may mean the whole world to a little boy. I'm glad to have this recorded so I can show him that in some times, he is able to give up his own most comfortable item or ways willingly when we have a higher purpose to achieve - get it cleaned so we can use it for a longer time!!! Hahaha.
A little achievement is a big one in the mummy's eyes! I am so proud of him.

I go through the same thing with my 2 boys. Both had a favourite pillow and both I sneak it away to wash. I just couldn't handle the smell anymore.
Sure they whine a bit but then I'll create some scary Chucky story and they'll keep quiet.
Now, only the small one ask for his pillow, but I bought the same pillow but with different colors so he won't know the difference

without there pillow or stuffed animals they feel lost i put the stuffed animals in a plastic bag in the freezer sometimes for 5 hours and lay it in the bed againso they dont notice me taking them.

I managed to trick him, using another pillow cos the real one isn't dry yet. Thank God the cover dried faster because he kept asking me where the blue pillow was every half an hour.
