1. Niels Bohr

Niels Bohr was a Danish physicist who made contributions to quantum theory and atomic physics including atomic structure.

He developed what is known as Bohr Model of the atom which depicts atom as a small and positively charged nucleus which is surrounded by electrons.

He was the founder of theoretical physics at University of Copenhagen which later re-named as Niels Bohr Institute in his honour.

He was the discoverer of chemical element hafnium and another chemical element bohrium is named after him.

He was honoured with Nobel Prize in Physics in 1922, Copley Medal, Atoms for Peace Award, Franklin Medal.

He was Foreign Member of Royal Society.

2. Vladimir Putin

Vladimir Putin is a Russian politician who worked as intelligence officer for and is current President of Russia.

He previously served as Prime Minister of Russia and is one of the powerful people among the world.

He was instrumental in improving Russian economy when he first became President in 2000.

He has been honoured with highest honours for civilians from many countries including the Legion of Honour from France.

3. Ludmila Tourischeva

Ludmila Tourischeva is a former Russian gymnast who is a winner of 9 Olympic medals participating in 1968, 1972 and 1976 Olympics.

She won a total of 4 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 2 bronze medals in 3 Olympics she participated making her one of the successful gymnasts.

She has won 7 golds, 2 each of silver and bronze medals in World Championships and 5 gold medals in World Cups.

She also won 8 gold medals, 2 silver medals, 4 bronze medals in European Championships.

She has been a coach, judge and an official with Ukrainian Gymnastics Federation since she retired from active gymnastics.

She got inducted into International Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 1998.

4. Sir Harold W. Kroto

Sir Harold W. Kroto was an English chemist who was the co-discoverer of fullerenes.

He worked as a professor of Chemistry at various Universities including University of Florida.

He was one of the critics of religious faith and actively promoted science education among the people.

For his co-discovery of fullerenes, he, Robert Curl and Richard Smalley were honoured with Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1996.

He was made a Knight Bachelor in 1996 and was a Fellow of Royal Society.

5. Jayne Torvill

Jayne Torvill is an English ice dancer who is a winner of 2 Olympic medals.

She participated in 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympics to win gold medal in ice dancing and she won a bronze medal in the same event in 1994 Lillehammer Winter Olympics.

She has 4 gold medals each in World Championships and European Championships in the ice dancing event.

She has been inducted into World Figure Skating Hall of Fame in 1989.

For her contributions to figure skating, she has been made the Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 2000.
