1. Katharine Hepburn

Katharine Hepburn was an American actress who was known for her spirited personality and she was the leading lady in Hollywood movies over 60 years.

She was a winner of 4 Academy Awards for Best Actress, which is a record.

The movies she acted include Morning Glory, The African Queen, The Lion in Winter, On Golden Pond.

Apart from her 4 Academy Award wins, she received 2 British Academy Film Awards and an Emmy Award.

She was inducted into American Theater Hall of Fame in 1979.

2. Florence Nightingale

Florence Nightingale was an English social reformer and statistician and founder of modern nursing.

She became famous while serving as manager and trainer of nurses during Crimean War (between Russian Empire and Ottoman Empire between 1853 to 1856).

She is known as The Lady with the Lamp because, she use to attend the wounded soldiers during night going out with a lamp.

3. Andrei Voznesensky

Andrei Voznesensky was a Soviet and Russian poet described by Robert Lowell as One of the greatest living poets in any language.

He was considered as one of the most daring writers of Soviet era.

His works include The Triangular Pear, Antiworlds, Arrow in the Wall, Dogalypse.

Voznesensky was awarded with USSR State Prize and he was a member of The Academy of American Arts and Letters and Russian Academy of Learning.

4. Dorothy Crowfoot-Hodgkin

Dorothy Crowfoot-Hodgkin was a British chemist who developed the protein crystallography.

She enhanced the study of X-ray crystallography and she also studied the structure of penicillin and structure of vitamin B12.

She was the one who deciphered the structure of insulin, the drug used control the blood sugar.

For all these discoveries and studies, she was awarded with Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1964.

5. Beryl Burton

Beryl Burton was an English racing cyclist who dominated women's cycling racing in UK and won more than 90 domestic championships and 7 world Titles.

She won women's world road race championship in 1960 and 1967 and won world championship medals almost every year across 3 decades.

In recognition of her achievements, she was appointed as Member of the Order of the British Empire in 1964 then Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 1968.

She was inducted into British Cycling Hall of Fame.
