OPP is a community driven project that intends to make open Wi-Fi hotspots available to users all over the world. The project works based on the premise that there are many Smartphone users with unused data that can be monetized to the benefit of the owners and those that need data, all of whom will profit from the network.

With 2.5 billion users of Smartphone globally, there are indications that most of these people have at one time or the other been at locations or situations in which they have not been able to access the internet due to the limited range of their network providers or due to network issues encountered. OPP has provided a solution to this challenge through the development of a platform which will enable owners of unused or excess data to donate them to the community and get rewarded for doing so.

The project is a secure global decentralized hotspot that intends to be constituted of 25 million users and contributors whose devices would contribute to this global hotspot network. The aim is to build a free-to-access worldwide hotspot network constituted by a fraction of all available Smartphone users whose devices will generate and use the free worldwide hotspot.
This system is meant to work for home and business WIFI systems and can be activated by any potential host after registering and downloading the OPP app. Alternatively, they can request for a home or business router from the OPP website. According to the website, the first 100,000 requests for routers will be provided free.
Users only need to ensure that their device’s hotspot is connected to the network for an hour daily to qualify for payment. The pay covers the cost of subscription of the contributing device. Every contributing device is rewarded, so contributors can earn with all their devices.
There is more than one way to get rewarded on the network. Its referral system gives users the opportunity to earn from those they referred while they can earn more by viewing ads on the network. The OPP token is the internal currency of the community with which members are paid for their contribution to the global hotspot, viewing ads and messages and other community based activities.

Problems with the Current Systems and the OPP Solution
Currently, data service providers have no way to ensure that their subscribers have access to the service when they are out of network coverage areas. This means that although the subscribers have paid for this service, they sometimes cannot access it because they are out of reach of the providers’ service area and some of these providers have no collaborative arrangements to ensure worldwide coverage.
Most times, subscribers pay again for data service even though they were unable to exhaust the previous ones thereby wasting resources.

The OPP open global hotspot provides a secure source of WIFI enabling users to access WIFI from a pool of contributors. This way, excess data that could have been wasted are efficiently utilized by members who may sometimes be at locations where they would not have access to internet. Registered users who are “hotspot hosts” are given codes that give them access to dashboards where they indicate how much data they are willing to donate, the number of devices they would use and the limit of ads they would like to access.
Members of the network are rewarded based on their contribution to the network. Each participant can view how much they have been paid on their dashboard which acts as an electronic wallet and from which they can make their purchases or transfer funds.
