Hello Hello friends, today I am pleased to be back here in this edition 106 of the @openmic, this time I bring you a version of the theme "Noites Cariocas" of the authorship of perhaps the greatest mandolin player of Brazilian music in all its history, this is Jacob Pick Bittencourt, or better known as "Jacob do Bandolim", born on February 14, 1918 in Laranjeiras (Rio de Janeiro). As a child playing in the street with other children, I listened to play the violin to a blind Frenchman. And that was his first instrument. But due to his repeated problems with the bow, and at the suggestion of a friend of the family, they ended up buying him a mandolin (bandolim), with which he played any music he heard, always in a self-taught way, since he never had a teacher. During the years 33 and 34 he was accompanying the guitar to Portuguese emigrant fadistas, but ended up missing the mandolin and dedicating himself exclusively to it. Tired of accompanying singers for very little money and the pressures of record companies, he prepared an opposition and became an Official, which would allow him greater economic and musical independence, since the mandolin had more and more weight in his life. In 1947 he recorded his first album with César Faria and Fernando Ribeiro with his song "Treme-treme" which became a great success. At the 49th signing with RCA he would remain until the end of his career, recording a total of 2 78 RPM discs and 12 LP's, plus another one for CBS. During a great period of time he played and recorded with César Faria and Fernando Ribeiro, and from 52 to 60 with Canhoto. During this period, he also recorded with orchestras. He was a musician who practically reached perfection, he never considered himself master of anything. However, he was a continuous researcher in Brazilian popular music, collecting and recording works for his dissemination of many composers such as Ernesto Nazareth or João Pernambuco. He managed to gather an impressive file of material, fundamentally, microfilming scores. Although he enjoyed fame and recognition in life in Brazil and, especially, in Rio de Janeiro, it was after his death that his work began to have international spread from Russia to Japan through the United States, reaching a posthumous recognition that continues to grow nowadays, in which he is considered a key figure of Brazilian music and of the choro in particular. Today we still talk about his mandolin. "Assanhado", "diabinho maluco", "Bole-Bole", "Doce de coco". You can still hear his "Vibrações", his "Alvorada" and his "Ginga do Mané". "Jacob plays Jacob, the others play the mandolin." Radames Gnatalli said about the one who dominated the "choro", and did not contain the tears and emotions, he unloaded everything on the strings of a small piece of wood that he embraced with a heart ready to explode into notes and melodies. "The teacher of Ernesto Nazareth and Pixinguinha, Jacob do Bandolim is, according to the singers of this genre (Choro) like Sérgio Cabral and Henrique Cazes," the greatest instrumentalist that Brazil already had. A teacher!!!. Well friends I hope you liked it, a hug ... regards! as always a special thanks to all the characters that make all this happen ... @pfunk, @ ausbitbank, @curie, @ verbal-d, @ krystle, @aggroed, @luzcypher .... all of them many thanks. ... !!!
