Hola que tal amigos, todo un placer estar nuevamente esta semana en esta edicion #109, para esta ocasion prepare algo directo de los 80's, una de esas canciones creadas para "soñar despiertos...", "Careless Whisper", escrita y producida por el ya tristemente fallecido Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou mejor conocido como George Michael, nacido en Inglaterra el 23 de junio de 1963, su padre era un restaurador de esa nacionalidad que se había mudado a Inglaterra en la década de los 50’, mientras que su madre era una bailarina inglesa.
George Michael pasó gran parte de su infancia en el norte de Londres y, dotado de un innato talento musical, comenzó a los 13 años a escribir sus primeras canciones. Por esta misma época, Michael asistió a la Bushey Meads School, lugar donde conocería a Andrew Ridgeley, otro joven que también ambicionaba ser un músico, estos dos jovenes decidieron en 1981 formar un dúo llamado Wham!. George Michael, por cierto, era el alma de la agrupación, pues aparte de ser el vocalista era el compositor de todas las canciones, mientras que Ridgeley sólo se limitaba a participar en los coros y tocar la guitarra eléctrica.
Tras presentarse en varios clubes, la alegre propuesta musical del dúo y la indudable calidad de las composiciones de Michael les permitió llamar la atención de varios ejecutivos de la industria, lo que les permitió conseguir su primer contrato discográfico. El disco “Fantastic”, lanzado por Wham! en 1983 en el Reino Unido, luevo vinieron “Make it big”, el segundo disco de Wham!, lanzado al mercado en 1984, transformaría al dúo en superestrellas internacionales. “Wake me up before you go-go”, el primer single que se lanzó a fines de ese año, se convirtió en número 1 a ambos lados del atlántico. Otros dos singles (“Everething she wants” y “Freedom”) que también treparon al Top One ayudaron a popularizar el disco.
Aunque sin duda que la canción que terminó por consagrarlos fue “Careless whisper” una hermosa balada soul caracterizada con un distintivo Riff de saxofon fue compuesta por George Michael cuando apenas tenía la edad 15 años, este super clasico que lo catapulto a la fama alcanzó el número 1 en más de 20 países (incluyendo el hot 100 de la revista Bilboard), vendio más de seis millones de copias y que, pese a estar incluida en el disco “Make it big”, fue considerada por la crítica como la primera canción solista de George Michael, quien, gracias a este álbum, ese mismo año ganaría el prestigioso premio Ivor Novello como “mejor compositor del año”.
Una pequeña anecdota que debo comentarles es que toque este tema lo tuve que hacer con solo tres cuerdas ya que el dia de hoy mientras me encontraba grabando rompi una de ellas, lo peor no fue romperla... les cuento sali enseguida a comprar el reemplazo, pero para me encontre con la sorpresa que la unica tienda musical que que queda, o quedaba en mi ciudad estaba cerrada, pregunte al lado de dicha tienda y me informaron que tiene dias sin abrir, y bueno no quedo de otra que reguresar a mi casa y pedirlas por internet, lo malo es que llegan el dia lunes (Si no hay contratiempos), asi que me toco grabar con lo que tenia, algo asi como la historia de Itzhak Perlman (sin compararme jamas con tan excepcional musico)..., para quienes no conocen la historia les cuento un poco...
Cuenta la historia que en un concierto muy especial, con un público muy ilusionado, que llevaba mucho tiempo esperado ver y escuchar a Itzhak Perlman, ocurrió algo muy infortunado: a los pocos segundos de comenzar el concierto, con sólo unos pocos -pero mágicos- acordes interpretados por Itzhak en su maravilloso violín Stradivarius, repentinamente una de las cuatro cuerdas del violín se rompió con un tremendo chasquido. Aclaración: un violín que pierde una de las cuerdas se convierte en algo prácticamente inútil para tocar música sinfónica, debido a los inarmónicos que genera. Cualquiera que toque el violín u otro instrumento de cuerda de la misma familia lo podrá corroborar. Es imposible tocar un violín de tres cuerdas y por eso los violinistas suelen llevar un violín de reserva, aunque cuando se toca un Stradivarius no es posible tener otro de las mismas características en reserva. La orquesta dejó de tocar inmediatamente, el público enmudeció y el director de orquesta, tras ver lo que había ocurrido, se dio la vuelta y se dirigió al público:
"Estimado público, lamentamos profundamente lo ocurrido. Por desgracia, una de las cuerdas del violín del maestro Perlman se ha roto. Es un hecho muy poco frecuente, pero es una adversidad que no podemos resolver a tiempo para continuar con este concierto, por falta de tiempo; el horario es muy ajustado y se necesita más de media hora para cambiar la cuerda y poner a punto el violín. Les pedimos sinceras disculpas…"
En ese momento, Itzhak Perlman interrumpió al director y le dijo que por favor se preparase para continuar con la obra. Itzhak cerró los ojos, se quedó en silencio unos segundos, como recomponiendo su mente y visualizando interiormente las tres cuerdas de su Stradivarius. Y acto seguido le hizo una señal al director y la pieza musical arrancó donde se había quedado.
Itzhak puso tanta pasión en su interpretación con sólo tres cuerdas, imposible de hacer según muchos, que aquella noche se escuchó uno de los conciertos más bellos de la historia. Al finalizar, Itzhak se secó el sudor de la frente (fue un grandísimo esfuerzo el que tuvó que hacer aquella noche para tocar lo imposible) y se dirigó al público con estas palabras:
Itzhak hizo esa noche lo imposible. En lugar de concentrarse en la cuerda que se había roto, se concentró con toda su energía, talento y ganas, en las otras tres cuerdas que le quedaban. Y con ellas siguió adelante y superó todas las expectativas.
¿Saben ustedes? en ocasiones el artista tiene la obligación de descubrir cuánta música puede aún hacer con los recursos que le quedan.

At that moment, Itzhak Perlman interrupted the director and told him to please prepare to continue the work. Itzhak closed his eyes, remained silent for a few seconds, as if recomposing his mind and visualizing inwardly the three strings of his Stradivarius. And then he made a sign to the director and the piece of music started where he had stayed.
Itzhak put so much passion into his performance with only three strings, impossible to do according to many, that that night he heard one of the most beautiful concerts in history. At the end, Itzhak wiped the sweat from his forehead (it was a great effort that he had to do that night to play the impossible) and addressed the audience with these words:
Itzhak made the impossible that night. Instead of concentrating on the rope that had been broken, he concentrated with all his energy, talent and desire, on the other three strings he had left. And with them he went ahead and exceeded all expectations.
Do you know? Sometimes the artist has the obligation to discover how much music he can still do with the resources he has left.
