Us versus China trade war is bad for all?

This is just my opinion and not somewhat bias as I am a American.

The trade tariffs are going to cost consumers in the short term as prices on products made in China rise. However in the long run this make made in USA products more competitively price and have a grip on China's unfair practices of intellectual properties.

i do say that Darwins theory of evolution of survival of the fittest is turning into what some Americans were well aware of. The slowing of wage growth and lost of many well paid jobs, aka union work or manufacturing, blue collar, the effects of cost cutting to gain higher corporate profits is coming back to haught this country.

Too much has been siphoned to foreign countries that it makes it hard to believe that USA has much left of intellectual properties to protect. China far exceeds in electronics, home appliances, and even some heavy machinery equipment. The concern of using G5 equipment for communication service to the US government blocking China companies from buying out American chip manufacturers. There is a clear sign that America is getting beaten and the taxes on China is a retaliation.

Back to survival of the fittest thought. Recently China's Jack Ma came out publicly encouraging people to do 60hrs work weeks. The thought was if you do what you love time you spend doing so will far exceed the expected standard of 40hrs. My first thought is how unfair it would be in order to fulfill a 60hrs work week if it became the normal. This would mean likely no days off and more than 8hrs a day on certain days. This make it difficult to socialize outside of work and spending quality time with families and friends.

Then I thought if I was in China how difficult it must be to survive there. With over 1.4 billion people the competition is fierce. Any upper hand gain people could get they would take or do. So working harder is bound to occur more often with such a big population.

The fear of China taking away USA jobs have long been a discussion in politics. There hasn't been a real resolution, but one can always hope that the tides roll in USA's favor.

The sad part to me from all this trade battles is that it took this long until USA finally did some sort of retaliation. It seems this is the country's stance until Trump no longer is president. It is very difficult to defy what China is today. A world Super power out to gain a bigger footing in the future. While USA is struggling to maintain its dominance as a global leader. You can't lead if you not the ones who built and innovate. To try to block others who can likely work harder and longer just because they have enough manpower is proving futile. This trade war is USA admission we can not handle the present and future competitiveness from China.

I think it is fair to increase the tariffs for Chinese products. They're take everything from other countries, it's pay back time.

Certainly is tricky times. USA needs to rebuild manufacturing of many many products we now get from China and abroad cheaply. The only motivation and pressure to do that will come from a stiff tax on imports. So in effect the taxes are not there only to punish and change China practices and behavior. It is as much for us to change our practice of dependency on foreign made goods. Many employers find it difficult to get good reliable staff even for fast food. I don't know many Americans that will take up work in manufacturing plants for +60 hour work weeks on what is likely to be low paying jobs. Of course poverty and survival will inspire many to it. Just sucks that is what kind of pain and suffering its going to take.
