Fold the variation on the right using the same instructions but with two pieces of paper held together as you fold.
Fold the butterfly on the left by Ralph Matthew by following the instructions here:

Fold the variation on the right by inside reverse folding all four sides at step eleven.
Folded by using the instructions for Ralph Matthew's butterfly with square paper. The variation on the right is also made by folding all four sides at step eleven.

There are many, many variations/models when it comes to origami butterflies with the above artist being perhaps most famous.
