The Middle Ages were characterized by constructions of fortifications of all kinds.
Doors, walls, crenellated towers with loopholes, ditches, canals, drawbridges, barbicans and other defensive solutions.
The Italian territory was not far behind, especially in the center-north and in Tuscany there were specialists surveyors who realized without paper project or only with small sketches, sighting or defense buildings. Very high for that era In the Renaissance the technique of defense of city ​​or suburbs became an art, applied by famous architects, for example Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo Buonarroti or Giovanni da Sangallo, citing only a few.
In my small pictorial work I wanted to represent the strength and elegance of a Tuscan watchtower, often the residence of noble families, near San Gimignano, a town famous for its 14 towers.

This painted tower was not a housing, but used only for sighting and defense, it is deduced from the only small window and its strategic position looking towards a series of hills (Siena).

Il Medioevo fu caratterizzato da costruzioni di fortificazioni di ogni tipo. Porte, mura, torri merlate con feritoie, fossati, canali, ponti levatoi, barbacani e altre soluzioni difensive.
Il territorio italiano non fu da meno, soprattutto nel centro-nord ed in Toscana vi furono specialisti geometri che realizzarono senza progetto cartaceo o solo con piccoli schizzi, costruzioni di avvistamento o di difesa.altissime per quell'epoca Nel Rinascimento la tecnica di difesa delle città o dei borghi divenne un'arte, applicata da architetti famosi, per esempio Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo Buonarroti o Giovanni da Sangallo, citandone solo alcuni.
Nel mio piccolo lavoro pittorico ho voluto rappresentare la forza e l'eleganza di una torre toscana di avvistamento, spesso residenza di famiglie nobili, nei pressi di San Gimignano, paese famoso per le sue 14 torri.
Questa torre dipinta non era usata come sede abitativa, ma soltanto per avvistamento e difesa, si deduce dall'unica piccola finestra e dalla sua posizione strategica che guarda verso una serie di colline (senesi).
