Lawnmower Stopped Running

So it’s been one of those days... I started to mow my lawn with the my John Deere d120 ride mower and about one min in the thing just died. So pushed it into the garage to check the fuel, oil, filter and battery. Oil seemed lower than normal so I feared the worst and started the engine breakdown to see if the head gasket had blown.

After pulling the head my worst fears had were proven right. There has been significant blow by and carbon build up.

Knowing that I had blow by the next step was to see if we if the connecting rod was still intact. No compression was telling me the worst.

Well after popping the piston out the worst was Confirmed. This engine is blown. I can’t find any cracking in the block, but I’ll have to pull the engine off to do that check.

At this point I’m done for the day. Maybe I’ll do a full engine breakdown post, but my time is better spent trying to find a new engine/mower...
