Techno- Report #12 - 3D printed steel bridgesteemCreated with Sketch.

Hi Steemit family!

A few days ago I published about a 3D printer that left me impacted by its ability to bind metal dust and convert into a solid structure, 3D printing is giving a lot to talk about, and that's good, this interesting innovation are my favorites in terms of advances in the good use of knowledge could be devised.

3D printing is one of those technologies that are called to change the way we build. Until recently we were limited to some plastic polymers that were useful to create small pieces but the leap that has made this new form of printing in recent times brings us closer to greater changes.

source

One of the reasons is the possibility of printing on metal, something that will change the way we create parts for the different machines we use but also the way we build elements.
The best example of this is the 3D bridge you can see and cross at the Dutch Design Week this week. Later it will be installed in the De Wallen neighborhood in Amsterdam.

This project was designed as an art object, in the beginning. But the involvement of its creators and the support of numerous institutions (from municipal organizations to private companies) have managed to turn it into something real.

So much so that visitors to Germany's design week can use it to check behaviour, and in the process generate data that is stored for bridges to be printed in the future.

Sensors that will improve the following bridges
One of the most striking aspects of this bridge is that it implements numerous sensors that are capable of measuring the number of people crossing it, the way they do it and environmental parameters such as air quality.

This data will be used by the design team to create a second model that is capable of improving the performance of this first unit. The idea is to find out how it resists the passage of time and how to make that future behavior even better.

The MX3D bridge is only a few months away from its final destination, but many years have passed since its initial conception. It is clear that the second bridge will not take that long and it is very likely that we will see new designs and constructions (or should we say impressions?) along Amsterdam and in other cities.

As we saw in the report I made on the 3D printer, its uses start to show great interest in architects and builders, imagine the possibility of building larger bridges, or houses and buildings, although skeptics of the traditional technology of noisy metal carpentry do not see viable this technology, I think that it will be the future that shows with the different structures that are designed and manufactured if they are really durable and if they can be approved for use by people, because first and foremost safety and that is something that engineers and architects have largely achieved in most cases.

source

But while we continue to enjoy these wonders offered by today's technology, for the welfare and service, the idea is not bad, and there is that the builders refuse to acquire this new technology, I think that those who will be affected is the industry that manufactures steel and materials used in metal carpentry.
