The website of Bancroft mentions 'Ontario's hidden gem'.
Bancroft has a long history.
Originally it was inhabited by 2 native groups, the Chippewas and the Mississagas.
First contact with white people was via woodrunners, who had friendly relations at each other.
The woodrunners brought European goods in exchange for furs.
So this is a bit of a background.
