in #palnet5 years ago (edited)

Selfportrait (1911)

Maurice Vlaminck born in the France of 1876, was a man attracted to painting in a very particular way; After pursuing his dream of being a professional cyclist, he realized that he had to make money to eat and exist, so he turned to two of his abilities to generate it, one was being a music tutor, violin to be more specific, but In addition, he also had a hidden talent in letters as a writer of erotic literature. However, a typhoid fever made him say goodbye to cycling, some time later he went to war which, was not so negative, because, he met the one that would become his colleague André Derain to realize that he could try to devote himself to painting, one of the best decisions he could make.

Tugboat on the Seine, Chatou (1906)

Tugboat on the Seine, Chatou is an oil painting on canvas, the first thing that catches my attention is the clear influence of Van Gogh that is perceived in this painting, the exquisiteness of his brushstrokes generate a texture to the composition that graces it with rhythm and movement In it you can visualize a landscape that joins the river with the earth, as a focal point are two boats, which stand out for their striking red and blue color represented in shades that are reflected without fear in the water, which is in the upper left corner begins the visual journey, taking the retina in a beautiful path of small spots that are positioned in different shades of blue with violet shades, the arrival of the smoke that the boat gives off to guide us towards the horizon line in earth colors is appreciated that embrace small houses with green and mustard yellow paths, generating on the right side two trees in such a simple way but with so much character under a line that conceives two shades of green delimited at the edges by black, we descend towards the second boat, lending attention to the lines that form below it to end up mixed between the terrain that includes yellow, orange and red. This work allows you to feel inside it, admiring the landscape under the gaze of this artist that captures it with total harmony.
