Fauvism: Mildred Bendall - "Nature Morte Aux Masques, C."

in #palnet5 years ago

She was a woman who participated a lot and rubbed shoulders with those who were breaking standards of the moment, born in a wealthy family she received painting classes at the school of fine arts, while taking tutoring in the painting workshop with a renowned fashionable painter Félix Carme. She travel a lot in Paris which made her expand as a person, learning and especially painting, when she received an admission letter to study at the 'Academie de la Grande Chaumière' was when her style took a turn when she met at the greatest exponents of avant-garde of that time, as was Matisse who influenced her in the work of Fauvism, she was delighted with the ability of color from that look of emotion and expression.

Nature Morte Aux Masques, C. (1928)

Bendall conceives colors in a much more careful style, the brushstrokes are almost imperceptible unlike his previous colleagues, her work manifests a bit of volume, something that was not very handled in Fauvism, the perspective of the work is a interesting point in this painting since it was thought of in a way that gave prominence to some specific elements that are distributed within the composition, this is how she projects a still life in a range of warm colors where the focal point falls on the two masks, one with a full face and the other a mask with black and white values, the latter is blurred with orange shades, in this way imprisoned under an almost theatrical drama is perceived as if it were a yin yang, under these two it is positioned a green book, which directs you to what appears to be a vase with three flowers, two of them lack vitality, while a small bouquet of white flowers is rising between the shortage, towards the left side a glass vase makes its way with the reflection of the mask at one end, with a green branch that comes out of its interior, two circles break on an sour orange background, color that predominates, on it a blue frame generates contrast to embrace a book of an orange tone much stronger and more alive, towards the right side a clay vase has a cactus inside, under all the elements a kind of mantle is responsible for retaining them with a print that conceives several colors in it like green, yellow, orange and brown.
