New Personal Best! | I was able to fly about 10 miles as a crow flies
This was one of those days that I will never forget.
The first time that I really went XC on my paraglider. I have done it before when I went over the back at Little Black. This was however a flight that was going to require some skills to accomplish.
At one point I was at 6k looking at some really big mountains thinking to my self "This is like a dream".
You have a lot of patience, lol. If I heard dad, I see you eating so many times I would probably abandon that child :D regardless if it would be mine or not :D
I see that you landed in between the 'flights' and a question popped up in my mind.. what is the safety check that you guys have? What if something happen and you are in the middle of nowhere? What do you do? This also makes me think of that new friend that you made. What if he wouldn't be there? How would you get back? I'm sure that you have all this covered :) I'm just curious..
Great video, amazing views! If I would be braver I would do something like that too :)
Have a lovely start of the week!
I have great kids. You are right tho, they can get on your nerves. I landed on the side of the hill because the air wasn’t lifting me up yet. I launched too early. I waited for the ground to heat up a bit then launched again. As far as landing in the middle of nowhere, it happens. You just need to hope that you have cellphones coverage. Lol thanks for watching.
This is awesome, first of all, I must confess that you have a lovely family, cute home and lovely kid/s.
Your boy is clever just like you, I’m glad seeing some group of friends coming together to have fun!
Such a nice fly, I hope I’ll have such courage to fly such someday.
Thanks @captainobvious3 for sharing with us.
Thanks for watching and thanks for the kind words.
What an amazing flight! I and my dad used to do this a few years back but he was involved in a nasty crash and my mom said I couldn't continue flying lol but I always like the feeling of flying and looking down, it somehow liberating and your video made remember that, thanks a lot for sharing!

hello @ captainobviou3
truly an exciting experience! and to think that I'm afraid to fly even on the plane, who knows what I would do in a paraglider !! How long does it take to learn about media? Do you have to take an exam and then be able to go it alone? great video. Congratulations and thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching. Yes you do have to take a test. It involves a study of PAR 103 of the air and some actual flights. I should do a post on what it takes.
Amazing video and what an experience. I know you have to have the right conditions and look for the thermals but your climb on the second run was fantastic. It was easy to spot the height climb as you rose above the hills around you. Really enjoyed this and thanks for sharing your hobby.
It is really unique to fly like a bird. thanks for stopping by and thanks for the kind words. Following.
First of all, I was wondering if you just mispicked/misuploaded a video. But I watched through and I love the family yah got. So sweet that little kidderino, especially when he backs away from the camera and tries to hide. D'aw!!!! ~^^~ Also tasty-looking sandwich, wonder what it was~ :p
(Also before I go on and comment on the rest of the video: did I heard about a gopher in that clime? Huh, must be a common sight.)
The travel and the pre-set up stage was almost cinematic and life-like how yah recorded the entire thing (I mean that's expected with Go-pro cameras). I wonder how that entire seen with everybody on the hill would look like with a three-sixty degree (360 Degree) camera. Probably need for a panaroma shot then :p
Then the flight itself, probably the most adrenaline-pumping and fastest ride if I so say so myself. Like reverse-parachuting where you go up faster instead of descending slowly! Anywho, that first scene with the go-pro screwing up was definitely a buzz-kill but made be a bit anxious of how your legs were going take the landing seeing how fast yah went... Well at least it's good your still walking! To just forcefully move on, I like the side comments that we do get to hear; like an internal catalog of the flight's data. Probably what killed my ears a bit was all the beeping that sporadically and rapidly came about, had to make me silence my headphones a bit. But for the price of seeing a sight so high with those beeps, it was well worth it. All the little dots that are houses, the other flyers sailing the air about, the landscaping that looks smooth from above and all the sediment that grazes the grassy-landscape. By the time of the flight's peak, yah gave us a beautiful sight of the city from above which makes it well worth it.
Anywho, with the funny way you sailed the craft yah truly deserved the two wins yah got today: the personal best yah achieved and the @curie upvote yah got here~
@theironfelix thanks for watching and the thoughtful comment. I have considered a 360 camera. They make cool video for sure. Not sure I can find a place for it on my instrument panel tho. Thanks for the kind words about my family. The beeping noise is telling me when I am going up or down in altitude. I normally have if off if I am low to the terrain because I don’t like the sound pollution. Thanks again. You have found a new follower today. Have a great day.
Welcome for the comment! ~^^~
Thanks for sharing the video once again and thanks for the following~
Oh boy!
That's too exciting!
Glad you found Steemit and share your experiences with us.
Its my first time I'd seen this kind of post here on Steemit.
Its my pleasure to know you.
Looking forward on your posts to come .
By the way how does it feel when you first did that sort of flying in the air?
Flying is one of the most unique things that I have ever done in my life. It’s like dreaming. I love it. You feel like a bird.
Oh!
I dreamed of walking and running in the air by myself without any gear but that was an old dream.
I no longer dream that kind of dream ever since.
