Do people get too offended to easily ???

in #partiko5 years ago

Hello steemIt citizens around the globe it’s your fav BATMAN here with another post for yall.

So I’ve been planning for a while how I should present this post and in no way do I mean to offend anyone who may feel offended by this post if you do feel offended or completely disagree please let me know in the comments I always like to see other points of view so feel free to get back to me.

If you haven’t realised by the title today I’m talking about if in today’s society do people get offended or take things the wrong way maybe out of context to easily I don’t want to make this a big post otherwise it could turn into a big rant so I’m gonna keep it a short as possible so without any more interruptions let’s begin.

BACK IN THE DAY

Now when I was younger I was raised watching amazing shows like FAMILY GUY, AMERICAN DAD, SOUTH PARK AND MANY SHOWS LIKE THAT that make jokes most of the time offensive but to me they are just jokes they are not being real with it. I noticed on Twitter the other day someone was actually complaining about family guy being too offensive and I feel that all my years watching it it’s not that offensive and I feel at the end of the day it’s just animated entertainment.

POLITICAL BELIEFS

So this can be a very bad topic to discuss I’m not very politically intelligent however I make my opinions based on how I see things and not get forced to believe because someone tells me to. For example I had my own opinion on a topic and someone disagreed okay fine disagree that’s fine I just want to express how I feel on the topic but some people instead of just disagreeing they slate you they call you names they attack you personally and they forget what the topic is. I feel everyone can have their own opinion don’t force them to believe somthing. If you disagree with them that’s fine disagree and explain why you disagree but don’t go on a personal attack as they could go on a personal attack about you for having a different opinion and it just gets bigger and bigger after that.

PEOPLE GET EASILY OFFENDED ON JOKES

I like comedy no wait I LOVE COMEDY. However I feel comedy now days is very toned down in what comedians can say. Here’s an example watch a Robin Williams stand up set compared to a comedian now days I feel it was easier to say whatever you wanted back then. Being boardline racist or constantly attacking someone fair enough draw the line but little jokes is part of making people happy.

That’s my post for you guys today apologies if it doesn’t make much sense there’s been a lot of drama lately in multiple discord servers that are steemIt related and felt that I should make this post today.

IF YOU DISAGREE WITH ANYTHING THATS ABSOLUTELY FINE FEEL FREE TO GET BACK TO ME ON WHY YOU AGREE/DISAGREE. FEEDBACK IS ALWAYS WELCOME HERE 😀.

Have a wonderful rest of the day

I tend to agree with you here, especially when comes to politics and comedy. Politics especially in the US have become so divided and partisan that it can be hard to have a civil conversation with someone who disagrees with you. The conversation will often turn into a tension filled argument.
I also agree that there indeed should be a line as far as saying truely hurtful, bigoted, or racist jokes, however comedy is the truest form of social commentary of any times and generally should not be censored. It would be hard to imagine that a movie like Blazing Sadles for example would be made today, yet it is a really well done and funny movie that is ultimately in my opinion the kind of social commentary that changes people's opinions through laughter for the better.
One of my all time favorite comedians is George Carlin, if you're not familiar please look him up. His comedy has shape a lot of my opinions over the years, yet is someone who would probably deal with a huge amount of blowback if was still around today.

Thank you so much for your feedback and yes I feel everywhere is so divided too comedy should be a freedom of speech after all it’s all to make people happy and laugh everyone should enjoy it. And I haven’t heard of that comedian. My personal favs are Robin Williams and lee Evans. I will check out George Carlin later thank you 😀

You're welcome! Carlin started in comedy around the same time as Robin Williams I think, and was still doing stand-up until 2007 when he passed. I also love comedy, but am not familiar with Lee Evans so I will have to look him up. :)

yeah , i guess nowadays people are too sensitive , maybe it'sthe effect of social media too and all these new rules , innovations and standards of the world
