Word of the day “Harvest” - Overloaded With Apples
It’s that time of year where everything starts to ripen. So far already we have made 3 batches of apple crumble, KISS baking at its finest! This year the trees are so overloaded Dave had to prop both of them up with landscaping ties. We have taken approximately 3 boxes worth of apples off the tree and it hardly made a dent.
Making use of the resources we have at hand while living off the land, an apple tree could be a decent source of harvest time income. Completely natural apples are hard to find and man are they taste! No bitter waxy flavour as you bite in, no pesticides, so juicy fresh off the tree. We try to make use of the apples but there is always way to many thus much of it is given away or goes to waist. I think I need to start making better use of my baking skills as a career baker and make some pies to sell.
I could just make some super simple crumbles in individual pie tins or even tart tins for sale, takes all of 10 mins to put a batch together. So delicious 🤤 the smell is killer this morning, Dave is hinting he wants us to make another crumble for him before we leave tomorrow.
