ICE CEO: Crypto Exchange Bakkt Will Launch In Late 2019
Jeff Sprecher, the CEO of the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE)- the parent company of upcoming crypto exchange Bakkt- revealed that Bakkt is scheduled to commence operations in the later part of 2019, Cointelegraph reported.
Bakkt's website says that its platform "is designed to enable consumers and institutions to seamlessly buy, sell, store and spend digital assets."
Sprecher shared that ICE- which also operates the New York Stock Exchange- regards the investment in Bakkt as "a bit of a moonshot bet and it's been organized in a manner that is very different than the way ICE typically does businesses."
According to Cointelegraph, ICE initially wanted to launch Bakkt in early 2019, but the plan was delayed due to the need for further consultations with the United States Commodity Futures and Trading Commission.
