Hello every one here i wolud like to share few things that i read today morning.
Acutally floods are over tops of the either natural or atificial banks in any reach of system.Flood plain is desirable location for livelihood.
Yes it is imp to control the floods because due to this so much damage is occuring in several ways.
Now see why we have to study about floods what is its need
1.To design any hydraulic structures like dams,spillways etc study of flood is imp
2.In order to determine max discharge & max potential study of flood is imp
Next we see types of flood
They are Areal,Urban flooding,Reverine,coastal.
Next we see methods to calculate Flood
1.Rational
2.unit hydrograph
3.watershed models(using softwares we can use)
4.Empirical
5.Flood frequency analysis.
I think this will help u know about few things of flood and importance of study of flood
